After a week or two, Aang started to get used to Four Elements High School. He also started to get used to meeting up with Katara and Sokka every morning to walk to school, so he was curious when found Katara, and only Katara, waiting for him at the corner of East and South Street.

"Sokka's at soccer try-outs," she said when she saw his puzzled face, "He wants to be team captain, but we all know that's not going to happen."

"Why not?" Aang asked, "He said he was mildly athletic." Katara giggled.

"So you haven't met Suki?"

"No."

"Suki's an amazing soccer player," Katara explained, "halfway through the year, she's going to this specialized soccer camp for two months. She single handedly is the reason that sports here are co-ed."

"Wow," Aang said, "Sokka doesn't stand a chance."

"I know!" The two of them talked and laughed about this all the way to school. When they arrived at their first period, Sokka was already seated, and a surly frown was on his face.

"So how did it go," Katara said as she and Aang sat on either side of Sokka.

"It was stupid. I didn't even bother trying out." He sighed, "It was just me and Suki and her friends. I was the only guy there."

"That's no reason for you not to try out," Aang said.

"Well, I just don't want to anymore." Katara Rolled her eyes.

"And why is that?"

"We- I-" Sokka searched for something to say.

"Please open your textbooks to chapter four." It was Lo and Lee.

"Let's pick this back up at lunch." Sokka nodded his head in relief.

~~~
Lunch at Four Elements was almost always outside. The courtyard had several stone benches, and students were expected to bring their own food.
"What is that?!" Katara asked when she saw the slimy yellow concoction Aang had brought.
"It's onion and banana juice," he replied, "It's not exactly the tastiest meal." As soon as Katara heard onions and bananas in the same sentence, she spooned some of her rice onto Aang's plate for him to eat.
"Have you guys seen Sokka anywhere?"
Katara smiled, "Hi, Suki." Suki had auburn hair and was athletically built. She wore a black tee shirt with the image of a fan on it, denim shorts, and an over-sized green jacket was tied around her waist. Aang introduced himself.
"We haven't seen Sokka since first period," he said.
"Although I don't see why you would want to see Sokka in the first place," Katara added.
"I know he had an interest in getting on the team, so will you let him know that there are more try-outs this afternoon?" Katara and Aang said that they would, and Suki left to join her friends at another table. A few minutes later, Sokka poked out from behind a bush.
"Is she gone?" he asked as he sat next to Aang.
"Yeah, but I don't know why you would care," Katara said.
"Wait a minute," Aang smirked, "You must be afraid of Suki."
"What?! No I-"  Aang took a long sip of his onion and banana juice before gagging and retching on it immediately afterwards.
"It's either that or you're in love with her," Katara affirmed, "Either way, you've been talking about doing soccer all summer, so you'd better try out after school."
"I told you, Katara, I don't want to try out anymore."
"Then I suppose I'll have to resort to force." Katara bended some of Aang's onion and banana juice over her hand, and froze it, creating a greenish yellow ice spear, and brought it up to Sokka's face.
"You will try out for the soccer team. Aang and I will be watching to make sure you don't chicken out, and if you do chicken out, you know what's coming." The onion and banana juice splashed, or rather, slumped to the floor.
"Now let's talk about something else," Katara said brightly.
"Wow, that was hardcore!" Aang was in awe. Katara shrugged, but she was blushing.
"Shouldn't you be in level three or four of waterbending."
"That's one of the things I don't like to talk about, Aang."
"Right." Aang scratched a mosquito bite. They finished their lunch in silence.
                                                                                 ~~~

Katara's last period of the day was language arts. As soon as the bell rang she quickly grabbed her messenger bag and headed out to the soccer field. Aang was nowhere to be seen, but he saw Sokka sitting on the bleachers.

"Hey, Sokka."

"Hey Sis," he gestured for her to sit next to him.

"Sorry about lunch." Katara said.

"No need to apologize. I guess I kinda deserved it." Sokka sighed, "The thing is, Aang wasn't completely wrong when he said I was afraid of Suki. I guess I'm afraid because... I know she and a lot of her friends are so much better than me." Katara smiled.

"Suki's in a league of her own, Sokka. You don't stand a chance against her. Besides," she elbowed him playfully, "I think you're avoiding Suki for a different reason."

"What do you mean?" Sokka saw Katara's smirk. "I do not have a crush on Suki! I've told you a million times that I'm in love with Yue!" Katara rolled her eyes.

"I'll believe it when I see it."

"Ohh, just wait, little sister, I am going to ask Yue out on a date, but first, I'm trying out for the soccer team." He pulled his hair into a ponytail and ran onto the field.

"He definitely likes her," said Aang, popping up beside Katara, "It's pretty obvious."

"Yeah," Katara looked over at Aang, who was sitting on an air scooter instead of the bleachers, "Do you think I'm too hard on Sokka?" she asked absentmindedly, "Do I act too much like his mom?" Aang got off of the air scooter and sat next to her.

"I think he relies on it," he said, "but I haven't known you two for that long, so don't take my word for it." he pointed to Sokka, laughing with Suki and her friends on the Soccer field, "Take his word for it."
