ACT 1 SCENE 7

"Guys, I think me and Will are ready for the next step. Will has always loved children and...well, I love Will. We're thinking about adopting!!"

"Nico..." Will said as he paced back and forth in front the couch where Nico was lounging.

"Will..." Nico said, narrowing his eyes, "You have the 'we-have-to-talk' face"

"What gave it away?" Will asked, rolling his eyes, "The fact that we're having this conversation at 3 in the morning?"

"Well, what is it??" Nico asked, tilting his head curiously.

"Katie and Clarisse invited us to come over and visit Roxanne and Rosaline"

Nico looked away, "We're not talking about this now"

"Neeks, it's been an year...we were so excited-"

"You were excited", Nico shot back.

"So were you!" Will countered, "Don't try denying it"

"I'm not ready yet", Nico whispered, pulling his feet to his chest.

"Deathboy, look at me", Will said, gently tilting Nico's face towards him, "I would never force you to do anything that you are not ready to do. But I need to know Nico...what are you really afraid of"

Nico sighed.

"I just- for such a long time, I hated my father. I resented him for letting my mother and Bianca die. A small part of me still does. Will", Nico said looking up, his eyes shimmering with unshed tears, "What if we're bad parents? What if our child resents us too?"

"You know my dad was never in the picture either right? I was raised only raised by my mother. And she dumped me at camp when I was just six. But I know we can be better. Atleast we know what not to do"

Nico smiled weakly.

"You know what Will...I think I'm ready. I think we're ready"

"Awww", Will cooed, "she's so adorable Katie!"

"Yeah, that wears off fast", Katie said with an amused smile.

Travis came up from behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Yeah, she's definitely a descendant of Hermes", he chuckled

"Mumma!" Roxanne giggled, stretching her arms out towards Katie, a devilish smile spreading across her face, revealing her perfect pearly white teeth and lopsided dimples.

"Yesterday she almost got hold of a pair of scissors!" Katie exclaimed, "Thank the gods Chris and Clarisse were babysitting! Rosaline is as good as gold. Not like this little devil over here", she said, reaching out to tickle Roxanne.

"Rosie bleh!" Roxanne said, scrunching her little nose and shaking her auburn-brown locks. Her bright emerald green eyes that she'd inherited from her mom narrowed, "Roxie yay!!"

Will looked like he was about to cry at the adorableness of it all.

"Can we please get one of these??" Will asked Nico, giving his infamous puppy dog eyes.

Roxanne caught on instantly, copying him to perfection.

Even Nico couldn't stop a small from spreading across his face.

"You're such a dork", Nico huffed affectionately.

"But I'm your dork!"

"Unfortunately"

Katie laughed and Travis asked, "So weren't you guys planning on adopting?"

"Oh this picture of Rosaline is so cute!" Nico said very un-subtly, trying to change the subject.

Will pouted, but he had to admit, Rosaline was pretty freaking adorable.

She had her dad's dark locks and eyes and her mom's spirit. He had a feeling that she would grow up to be pretty awesome warrior.

Will threw a look at Nico just as he picked Roxanne up from her crib. The picture was so perfect, he just had to smile.

"Someday", he whispered to himself with a smile, before walking over to Nico and wrapping him in a hug.
