For the second time within a time span of sixty seconds, my heart skipped a beat.

"It's him isn't it?" Daniel asked with a hint of anger in his voice.

Christian being the voice of reason said, "Remember the plan. Do what you came here to do."

I could barely hear Leonardo's footsteps get closer behind me with the noise in my ear and the sound of my heart blocking my ears. In a flash I was turned around and pushed harshly into the book shelf knocking the air right out of me.

The sudden action caused my grip on the glass to loosen and fall onto the floor into pieces. My eyes were closed as I winced from the pain that ran down my back and arms which he grasped firmly.

"What's happening Elizabeth, are you alright?" Chris' voice rang in my ear.

A cold chilling voice spoke after his, "Are you deaf or stupid? Who gave you the right to enter this room? Who do you think you-"

"Leonardo...please let me go." I begged in a whisper as I could barely speak at this point.

He seemed to freeze for a while before he pushed me onto the floor. "That...that voice!"

I broke into tears as he seemed to pace around the room. For the first time since our encounter I opened my eyes and sat up to look at him. He immediately froze as soon as our eyes met.

He looked so different from the time I left. Back then he was still young but now his features were sharper. He even had a stubble, I remember teasing him about the way his beard never grew back then. His body used to be lean and masculine but now, it was big. He had huge muscles that strained against the white shirt he was wearing as if it would rip any second now.

"It can't be. It simply can't be." He said breathlessly.

I stood up and mustering all the courage I had, I walked up to him. Leo raised his hands to untie the ribbons that held my mask in place I assume but hesitated, putting them back down.

I stared at his eyes locking them with mine as I took his hand in mine. I felt the fire in my soul light up as our hands touched and I knew he could too because his face softened.

I took his hand and lead it behind my head, placing it on the ribbons. With one pull, the knots undid themselves and the mask fell to the floor revealing my face.

Leo let his hands rest on my cheeks as he took me in, taking his time. I closed my eyes as I felt his fingers trace the features on my face. I felt him run his hand through my hair. I felt our foreheads touch and my tears started to pour even more. "Leo..." I whispered.

All of a sudden I was pushed back, my eyes snapping open. Leo was fuming and his breathing was uncontrolled. I held my hand out, "Leo-"

"No Beth no! You don't get to do this. You don't get to leave me in the middle of the night without an explanation and then show up from nowhere! You don't get to break my heart and look at me like that. You don't get to make me hate you then warm my heart with just one touch!" He yelled.

Leo held my wrists and pushed me into the wall. My hands held captive above my head, his face inches from mine. "You told me lies on top of lies Beth. I gave you everything and you took it all and ran. I gave my heart, my soul and my body but it wasn't enough. I was never enough for you."

"You think you are one to talk. Did you even look for me once Leo huh? I was gone for so many years and not even once did you show your face to me either!" I yelled in his face.

He closed his eyes as he grit his teeth together. Leo leaned his face closer to mine his lips lightly tracing my face to rest next to my ear. Thank goodness it was the one without the earpiece.

"Listen to me little miss Tessa the book store clerk, I don't even know why I looked for you even though you left me." He whispered slowly, "I know about your activities...sleeping around with different men."

My breathing became harsh. He had been watching me. Did he know I was working with the FBI?

"Is that why you left me Beth? To explore your options? Why did you marry me if you wanted to be with other people?" He stepped back looking angrier by the minute. "My blood is boiling right now knowing that other men have touched what is mine."

I lowered my hands to my sides. "Those men didn't mean anything to me, you know me better than that Leo."

Leo held his hand up, "Don't! I don't think I ever really knew you honestly."

I took his hand in mine. "Leo I know you are bitter but I left for a reason and I'm back for a reason. You know me better than I know myself."

"Get the fuck out Beth. Get out of this house and out of my life. Leave just like you did three years ago and this time, I promise not to look for you even once."
