"Look at these pictures," he held them up in my face. One after another. "That's you in all of them...with different men." He chuckled humourlessly as he continued. "Funny thing is all of these men ended up dead a few hours later."
I tried to keep a...
I pulled out the duffle bag swinging it over my shoulder then headed to the basement. Flicking the lights on, I walked to the small station I had created for myself as a child to get away from the things that were happening in the house.
There was a board, a table and chair. I put the bag on the table and started to empty it. I placed my old phone and laptop on the table, my hands hovering over them for a while before moving on.
I pinned all the pictures and notes on the board and connected them together using thread in a web like manner. This was everything I had kept four years ago.

I had a feeling that everything that I went through at that time was connected to everything that was happening now. I just needed to somehow connect the pieces. I removed the papers I had kept in my pocket about the suspicious cargo and pinned them to the board as well.
When I was finished I stepped back and placed my hands on my waist to analyse my work. To think that Leo thought I was being delusional. Notbehavinglikeyourself, he said. Well how could I be myself when I was being driven crazy.
I opened a drawer from the table and pulled out a map of the city, a pencil and a compass.
The day of the charity ball I had memorised the milage of the car before leaving the safe house and after arriving at the Lyon Mansion. It was the only way I could get any information on its location.
Converting the distance to the ratio of the map, I drew a circle around the mansion with the compass. Tapping my chin with the pencil I tried to recollect anything that could help single it out.
I walked to the door and tried to open it but it was locked from the outside. The windows had bars and there was nothing to see except the forest and the morning sunrise. Great, I was a prisoner. Wouldn't be the first time anyway.
A forest... exactly!
I looked at the map again and was glad to realise that there was only one potential location. I would have to go there and look around some other time.
I left the basement and was on my way to the garage when I realised that I couldn't drive the taxi. I still needed it and it would be crazy to drive back to the mansion in it.
I ran back up to my old bedroom and took the licence plates that I had on the walls for decoration. I used to pick them up from dumpsites because the only vivid memories I had with my dad were when he would teach me about cars.
I grabbed a screwdriver on the way as well. Sitting on the cold garage floor I unscrewed the plates and replaced them. Looking at the cab I thought to paint it but I thought otherwise for probable future purposes.
Locking everything up, I left and went to the nearby grocery store. In case someone had seen me leave or if they would see me come in then I would have an excuse.
Walking down the aisles I didn't know what to even purchase. I grabbed a few snacks and a bottle of water.
"Anything else?" The woman at the till asked with a smile.
My eyes flickered over some stuff until they landed on a box. In a totally crazy moment I just picked it up for the fun of it and bought it as well.
I easily got a cab and asked the driver to drop me off a block away. It was still early in the morning with the sun only rising. I snuck back into the house with ease and unnoticed.
I pulled out the hair tie as I walked to my room happy to let my hair loose.
"Where are you coming from?" Someone asked from behind me instantly bringing me to a sudden halt.
