(Y/n's POV)

"Hey pretty boy, waiting for someone?" I ask, smoothly sliding up next to a man at the bar.
"Yeah, for you." He jokes pushing me with his shoulder.
"What'll you have?" The bartender asks when he notices me at the bar.
"Scotch, please. It's a special night." I respond looking over at the man who I had spoken to.  
"Should we get seated now?" I ask once my drink is served to me.
"Yeah, if you want to," he responds, holding out his hand for me to grab.  
This man was in fact my boyfriend Ren  Amamiya, or as he is better known, Joker. We had been dating for three years now, and it was wonderful. Yeah, we did fight sometimes, but every couple does, and in the end, I know Ren loves me and I hope he knows that I love him. 
"This is nice Ren. Thank you for this." I say as we are seated next to the huge windows that look out onto the bay.
"Well,  it is our anniversary so I thought it would be a good idea to treat  you." He responds with a small smile tugging at the edge of his lips.
"Aww, thank you! That's very sweet." I respond looking over the menu at him with a big grin on my face.
"Anything for my sweet." He compliments slyly as usual.
"Stop your making me blush," I say as I hide behind the menu in embarrassment. 
"It really is a beautiful night," I say as I look outside the windows at the water and the sky. The city lights that shown off the water,  looked like Christmas lights floating in the waves.
"Yeah, it is, especially since you are here," Ren says pulling my attention away from the water and back onto him.
"Hey!" I start to scold, then think better of it. "Thank you..." I say with an embarrassed smile.
"Do you want to take a walk before we go home for the night?" Ren offers and we lazily eat our respective desserts.    "Yeah, definitely, you know I love walks!" I agree with excitement. It was true, I am a sucker for walks, especially in parks.  "Tonight is amazing. First dinner with my loving boyfriend, then a classic moonlit walk through the park. How could tonight get any better?" I ask as we walk down the street toward the park that we both know very well.

(Joker's POV)

"I have one idea," I say as I turn the small black velvet box over in my pocket. Thankfully (Y/n) didn't pick up on my nervous attitude or he would have surely questioned me about it.  Before I knew it I wall pulled out of my thoughts by a gruff voice from the shadows.  "Hey, you there!" A man said stepping out from the darkness and into the light of the streetlamp.   "Me?" (Y/n) questioned before I had a chance to process the situation.   "Yeah.  Do I know you? You look familiar." The man said stepping closer to us. I  instinctively put my arm around (Y/n's) hip and pulled him closer to me.   "I don't know, maybe we met at a bar or something." (Y/n) said trying to assess the situation.   "No,  it's not that. Hey wait, I think I know. You're (Y/d/n). We went to  High school together." The man said stepping even closer to the two of us. I felt (Y/n) flinch a bit at the sound of his dead name, and honestly, I did as well.  "Oh, um, yeah. That's not my name anymore though, I go by (Y/n)." (Y/n) corrected, obviously not knowing who this man was.  "But that's a dude's name." He said confused.   "I know. That's because I'm a man.""No, you're not, you're a girl, not a dude.""I'm sorry you feel that way, but I am a 'dude'.""Well,  that's too bad because  now I think you should be handing over your  wallets." The man said revealing a blade from his pocket.
"You see, I  was going to let you go because you're so pretty.  Then you ended up tricking me, and I guess I'm gonna have to trick you too."
"Just do as he says Ren, it's not a big deal." (Y/n) tried to convince me when he felt my arm leave his hip.  
"Hey, boys I think I'm going to need your help on his one." The man called, and Ren started to transform into Joker. 
"Ren, be careful, please be careful." He called, holding his position behind me.  I  was so caught up in taking care of this man that I didn't see the other three men appear from the shadows till it was too late.  
"Hey!  Get off of me!" (Y/n) called from behind me, the panic in his voice was clear.  "Ren! Help, I need help." He called but was cut short by a low grown of pain.   I whirled around to see a new man standing over (Y/n) who had a blade sticking out of his stomach.
"Larry!  let's go!" the third man yelled as he took off into the woods. The man who stabbed (Y/n) looked at me with an expression of pure terror.  
"I-I'm sorry!" He yelled as he ran into the woods as well.  I  knelt down next to (Y/n) as I called the ambulance on my phone. I  talked to him between answering questions the operator had.   "(Y/n), hey wake up. Come on, wake up (Y/n)." I prompted, lightly patting his face till he looked at me.  
"I feel sleepy, I think I'll just take a short nap." He responded. 
"No, hey, come on. Stay with me, talk to me."
"It's okay, I'm only going to shut my eyes for a quick second. "
(Y/n's POV)
I came to in a hospital room. I only knew this because I heard the beeping of the heart monitor. I felt Ren holding my hand, but I didn't open my eyes yet. Then Ren started talking. 
"(Y/n), I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have taken you through that stupid park. I should have known there would be robbers there. Just, please come back to me,  please. I have something important that I wanted to ask you.  That's why I walked you to that God-forsaken park, I wanted to be alone,  in a calm place. A place that you would like. I wanted to take you to that small bridge over the creek. You know where we always see the ducks. Where we had our first kiss, and where we always go on the first day of summer. The bridge that we always have picnics next to, where  you fell asleep with your head in my lap while I read poetry to you."
"The... The bridge next to the weeping willow where you first told me that you loved me." I whispered.  
"(Y/n), oh thank God, you're awake. I'm so sorry, this is all my fault." Ren said, immediately jumping up and leaning over me. 
"The bridge where we always go when we get ice cream." I continue trying to calm Ren some. 
"Yeah, that's where I wanted to take you." He responds moving a stray strand of hair out of my face. 
"It's not your fault. What are the odds that He would have been the one that would rob us." I whisper out with a shaky smile. 
"It is my fault. There are muggings there all the time, I don't know why I  thought it would be different for us." He tried to continue. 
"It's fine Ren, it's fine. What was it that you wanted to ask me?" I pressed trying to change the subject. 
"I don't think the hospital is the place-"   "Nonsense!  What was the question?"
"Well,  let me start by saying that I love you (Y/n). I wanted to ask you if you would like to marry me? You don't have to say yes, especially after  what happened tonight-"
"Ren, shut up! Of course, I would love to marry you. I've wanted to marry you since the day we met silly. "
"So that's a yes?"
"Yes!"He hugged me the best he could and kissed me softly. His smile could have lit up the whole town. I put my hand on the side of his head and whispered to him. 
"Hey, I love you too Ren. And hey, at least  your proposal will be memorable." I joked, and Ren lightly punched me in the arm, his smile still remaining.
