There was something off about Kiki Xu Jiaqi. Shaking just knew it.
Ever since the Shuxin and Xiaotang's much anticipated wedding, Kiki has been on edge. Whenever Shaking asks her something, she would reply with short, blunt answers. She also hadn't been coming home a lot these days and Shaking was getting worried.
"What should I do, Xinwen?" she cried over a beer at the bar one day. "Why is she acting like that?"
"There could be many possibilities," Xinwen said solemnly as she took a sip of beer.
"That's exactly what I'm worried about! I don't want to assume the worst!!" Shaking groaned. "I know she used to be a player and all but I don't wanna assume she's back to her ways because she used to be a... You get it."
"I think I do."
The duo became silent for a moment. Shaking swirled the beer in her mug, mind wandering elsewhere. Xinwen looked at her friend and sighed.
"Tell you what?" Xinwen put her hand over Shaking's. "Why don't you go ask Diamond what's up? She basically mothers Kiki, you know. She might know why she's acting like that.
Shaking let out a deep breath she didn't know she was holding.
"I don't know," she whispered.
"Why not?" Xinwen raised a brow.
"Maybe I don't want to know."
"Why?"
"To protect myself. I don't think I can handle another heartbreak."
Xinwen sighed.
"Maybe it's not what you think."
"What if it is?"
Shaking's voice sounded so broken. Xinwen exhaled through her nose. Shaking continued.
"I need to protect myself, Xinwen. I cannot deal with another painful heartbreak."
Xinwen put her arms around Shaking and embraced her.
"You're right. You have every right to protect yourself, but hey! Maybe it isn't like that! You really should give Diamond a call, you know."
Shaking nodded reluctantly.
"I'll think about it."

"I am dyinggggg~" Xiaotang groaned.
This morning, Kiki had mercilessly dragged Xiaotang out if bed while she was cuddling Shuxin to go ring shopping with her. And guess what? Yuxin, Diamond, and Yu Yan helped Kiki pull her out of bed. You could just imagine how betrayed Xiaotang felt.
"Now do you understand how it felt when you dragged us out of bed to go ring shopping?" Yu Yan asked, smirking.
"Yes," Xiaotang wrapped her arms around Yu Yan's legs.
"Stop clinging onto my wife's leg, you crackhead " Diamond angrily grumbled.
