Chapter 13

Steve had allowed me to join him because of the relationship I had with Bucky as well as the soldier, he knew he wouldn't hurt me regardless of which version he was.

Steve and I look around Bucky's small apartment, there's a mattress with disheveled covers and various bits of cheap looking furniture. The kitchen and bedroom are in the same room, it wasn't much but it was better than the cells we used to have.

I turn to face Steve who's flicking through a small note book only to turn back at the feeling of being watched, my breath catches in my throat. There he was stood staring at us, his eyes soften once they meet my wide ones. He sends me a nod and I smile at him as Steve turns around slowly. "Do you know me?" He asks Bucky who just stares at him, I wait in anticipation for him to answer. "You're Steve. I read about you in a museum." I felt like these was more to it.

"They've set the perimeter." Sam says over the headsets. "I know you're nervous. And you have plenty of reason to be. But you're lying." Steve says, "I wasn't in Vienna. I don't do that anymore." Bucky says before his desperate eyes meet mine, I give him a small nod knowing he didn't, he wanted someone to believe him and I did.

Steve tries to get more out Bucky as Sam informs us of outside moment, once he lets us know that our time with Bucky was running out. Steve turns to me and gives me the look, meaning I had to get out of there and stay safe and away from the fight. I nod and then with one last smile to Bucky I leave.

I knew that I should just listen to Steve since there wasn't much I could actually do to help, me staying out of the way would ensure he had a clear head well as clear as it was gonna get. I just stayed invisible and followed all the drama, by just teleporting around.

I watched in fear as a man dressed in a black cat suit, I think it may have been a panther or something, came and went for Bucky, I followed them through the tunnel until they got surrounded and caught.

"Stand down, now." Rhodey says as he drops down in his suit holding his arms out warningly at Bucky as he stands beside Steve who puts his shield on his back. "Congratulations, Cap. You're a criminal." Police move in and force Bucky to his knees. The Black Panther person raises his hands as a cop moves Steve's arms behind his back. Black Panther retracts his claws and pulls off his mask revealing his face. It's T'Challa the Wakandan Prince, Steve and Rhodey look curiously at him.

"Where is she?" Rhodey asks Steve as he notices I'm not with them, "I don't know I told her to stay out of it." Steve says making Rhodey nod.

I watch the three of them be escorted away in an suv whilst Bucky had to be separately taken in a containment pod.

I teleport to the facility they're all transported to to find tony and Nat there too. "We've been looking for you kid." Tony says as they spot me, "I was taking a stroll, it's wonderful weather today." I shrug making him snort. "Yeah sure, come on." He says leading me to where Sam and Steve were and surprise surprise they were with Sharon again, "you can wait here if you want." Tony tells me prompting me to nod and join them.

After Tony walls back around to take his seat Sharon turns on the screen showing Bucky's evaluation, was she supposed to be showing us this?

I watch the evaluation intently ignoring whatever Steve Sam and Sharon were saying, something seemed off, "Tell me, Bucky. You've seen a great deal, haven't you?" The evaluator asks Bucky who looks uncomfortable, "I don't want to talk about it." He huffs, "You fear that... if you open your mouth, the horrors might never stop. Don't worry. We only have to talk about one" I notice a booklet he had his hand over, something flashed out from beneath his hand and my eyes widened, how did he get that?

All of a sudden the lights turn out and I immediately begin to panic, not knowing what else to do I teleport down there. "What the hell is this?" Bucky asks suddenly a lot more aware as the fake evaluator stands, "Why don't we discuss your home? Not Romania. Certainly not Brooklyn, no. I mean, your real home." He removes his glasses then walks towards Bucky reading from the red book by torchlight.  I show myself and make a move to grab the book from his hands.

"Желание." I halt in my place as my eyes screw shut and the pain rolls through my head. "Ржавый" I fall to my knees clutching at my head, "Stop." Bucky groans as I try my hardest to block this out, I could do it I know I could, I'd done it before but that was years ago. "Семнадцать." Tears stream down my face as Bucky's metal arm trembles in its restraint.] Stop." He sneers angrily, "Рассвет." My own scream merges with Bucky's as he clenches his fist and rips free of his restraints. "Печь." I force myself to stand and unscrew my eyes, "Девять." I take a deep breath as Bucky thumps against the pod. "Добросердечный." Bucky punches harder as I steady my breathing. "Возвращение на Родину." I focus myself and then run trying to tackle the fake evaluator.

He moves out of the way and I fall, "Один." I can't remember what it was I was trying to do, all I know is I'm on the floor, "Грузовой вагон." Almost every thought leaves my brain as I stop squirming around I feel oddly calm. I look to the side to see the soldier as he batteres the front of the pod with his metal fist and the glass screen flies clear. A man slowly rounds the pod with the book and the torch in hand. he stands before the solider who straightens, a dark frown on his face. I get up from the ground and join his side, just like I always do. "Солдат?"

"Я готов отвечать." We reply in unison, making the man chuckle, "I came for one soldier and I got two how lucky." He smirks before focusing on the soldier again. "Mission report. December 16, 1991."
