Chapter 11 - Parenting

Chapter 11

1 week later

Ichigo P.O.V:

It's been 2 weeks since Kaien was born and it's still taking everything in me to handle this parenting thing. I haven't gotten much sleep lately and it sucks that I still have to go to the division while Rukia gets mine. It's not fair

I was still doing paperwork when I heard a knock on the door

Ichigo: Come in. I shouted

The door opened and it turned out to be Byakuya

Ichigo: Byakuya

Byakuya: The head captain told me to drop this off. He said as he proceeded to drop another stack of papers on my desk

I sighed

Ichigo: I guess thanks

Byakuya: How have Rukia and Kaien been?

Ichigo: They've been alright you know. I said while leaning back in my chair

Byakuya: Kurosaki you look very tired

Ichigo: Huh? Oh yeah well this whole parenting thing is taking everything it's got in me and I haven't really got any sleep. Rukia is so lucky she doesn't have any work. I stated while mumbling at the last part

Byakuya looked at me carefully. What is he looking for

Byakuya: Go home. He said coldly

Ichigo: Wait what? I asked confused

Byakuya: I said you should go home and get some rest. I'll handle the paperwork

For once Byakuya is actually helping me out. I knew deep down he cared about me

Ichigo: Are you sure I mean you don't have too

Byakuya: I don't know what it's like being a parent but I can tell it has taken a toll on you which is why I am telling you to go home and rest up besides. You hate paperwork don't you

Daym Byakuya really does know me well

Ichigo: Thanks Byakuya I really appreciate it c ya later. I said walking out

Byakuya: Kurosaki

Ichigo: Yeah

Byakuya: You already know what I'm going to say so I won't even say it

Ichigo: Have fun with the paperwork

I couldn't be more eager to get home. Maybe Byakuya is a loving, caring and a compassionate guy deep down

I arrived home and opened the door to see nobody there. Maybe there upstairs

I walked upstairs to find a sleeping Rukia and Kaien sleeping in his crib peacefully. I gently lifted Kaien out of his crib and just looked at him. Over the past week his hair went form orange to more of a brown color. I wonder how tall he'll end up being. Probably average

Rukia: Looks like someone's home early. Rukia said turning to her side to face me and smiling

Ichigo: Well Byakuya offered that he would do the rest of my paperwork so I couldn't pass it up. I said while putting Kaien back in his crib and going to lay beside Rukia

Rukia: I never thought Ni-sama would do anything like that for you

Ichigo: Well I guess miracles do happen right

Rukia: In any case you look very tired so you should probably go to sleep

Ichigo: Your right love you. I said before giving her a quick kiss

Rukia: Love you

A little more than several hours later

Rukia P.O.V:

I woke up to the cries of Kaien. I looked at the time it's 5:30

Rukia: Ichigo. I said softly while nudging him

Ichigo: What is it Rukia. He groaned

Rukia: It's your turn remember

Ichigo: Alright fine. He said getting up. His hair was messier than usual and I found it cute

He walked over to the crib and lifted Kaien and started to gently rock him and he also hummed a lullaby which I was not familar with

I sat up on the bed just in case if Kaien needed his mommy. He does get hungry after all

After a while Kaien finally went back to sleep and Ichigo kissed his forehead before letting him down. Then he proceeded to lay down on the bed and cuddle right next to me

Rukia: You have you get up in 2 hours ya know. I said almost whispering

Ichigo: I know

Rukia: Sucks doesn't it?

Ichigo: You have no idea since they gave you time off and not me

I laughed at Ichigo's statement

Rukia: You really have become a softie to Kaien

Ichigo: N-no I haven't. Ichigo said obviously embarrassed

Rukia: It doesn't matter if we argue because I have already won. It's a good thing that you're soft to him since it shows how much you love and care for him. I stated firmly

Ichigo: Since when were you my phycologist. He mumbled

I smacked his arm lightly

Rukia: I don't get what's so hard about admitting it

Ichigo: Like you're one to talk. He shot back

Rukia: I never said I wasn't a softie to him

Ichigo: You can't settle for an answer unless it's yours right

Rukia: I only stick with my answer when I know I'm right anyways you really should get going to sleep because now you have to get up in 1hr and 45min

Ichigo: You really are a pain ya know that. He whispered while pulling me closer

I lightly jabbed him in the chest for that

Ichigo: Love you

Rukia: Love you too
