Chapter 12 - Day Off

Chapter 12

2 weeks later

Ichigo P.O.V:

I'm so glad I don't have work today because that means I get to spend time with Rukia and Kaien all day and I get to some extra sleep.

I woke up to a sleeping Rukia already awake beside me. She smiled as soon as my eyes met hers

Rukia: Good morning sleepy head. She whispered

Ichigo: Good morning beautiful. I whispered back. While yawning and stretching

Ichigo: How long were you up for? I asked in sleepy voice

Rukia: About 20 mins

Ichigo: Is Kaien still asleep?

Rukia: Yeah he is

I sat up on the bed and leaned against the backboard and Rukia followed suite with leaning her head on my shoulder. I grabbed her hand and gently caressed the back of it with my thumb and Rukia just smiled. I turned my face to face Rukia's and gave her a quick kiss

Ichigo: We should probably get our morning started

Rukia: Yeah we should

After going our daily morning routine and eating breakfast me and Rukia just chilled on the couch with Kaien between us. He was still asleep and I couldn't but smile. He looked like a little angel.

Rukia: You know soon he's going to become a shinigami right. She said softly while running her fingers through Kaien's hair

Ichigo: I hope that's doesn't happen too soon

Rukia: You don't want to let him go huh? I feel the same way but the day will come where he will be a fully grown adult and we just have to let him go

Ichigo: But for the time being he is here with us which is why I will cherish every moment of it. I said while leaning my forehead on Rukia's

Rukia: Yeah you're right we should

We were still sitting in the same position when we heard a knock on the door

Ichigo: I'll go get it. I said before giving Rukia a kiss

I opened the door to find Byakuya

Ichigo: Byakuya it's nice to see you. I lied

Byakuya: Likewise. I knew he could tell that was a lie

Ichigo: How can I help you today?

Byakuya: I just came to check on Rukia and Kaien. You know make sure you're doing a good job. He said coldly

Ichigo: Well then come on in

Rukia: Ni-sama. She said standing up while still holding Kaien

Byakuya: Hey there Rukia has Kurosaki been treating you and the little one well?

Rukia: He has you don't have to worry ya know

Ichigo: Honestly do you really think I was not taking care of them. I said annoyed

Byakuya: I was just making sure. Anyways I have to get to the division take care.

With that Byakuya flash stepped right out

Ichigo: It seems that Byakuya might have become a bit of a softie to Kaien too. I stated

Rukia laughed

Rukia: Well Ni-sama is a caring person but I can tell Kaien will have him wrapped around his finger

Ichigo: Hopefully he does maybe I use that to my advantage. I mumbled

Rukia: What did you say?

Ichigo: N-Nothing

With that Kaien woke up. But he did not wake up crying he woke up peacefully.

Rukia: Looks like someone's awake

Ichigo: It's about time.

Rukia: You know I think he has your stubbornness

Ichigo: How can you tell?

Rukia: Just a feeling

I gently laid my hand on Kaien's head. He looked at me and faintly smiled. I couldn't help but smile back

Ichigo: I love you two so much. I said before kissing Rukia's forehead

Rukia: I love the both of you more

I know this was a short chapter and the next one which is going to be the last one will also be a short one too but this was a wholesome chapter to write. Don't forget to vote and please leave your review
