Chapter 13: What Happened?

"Dad, where are you?"

Such a bad nightmare.

Kyle woke up in his hospital bed. Beside him is Sharon, who is sleeping on a sofa. Kyle had no idea what is he doing at the hospital.

"Sharon," Kyle called her. "Sharon, can you hear me?"

Sharon woke up from her sleep. She was relieved when she saw Kyle sitting on his bed.

"Good thing you're awake. Let me call the nurse," she said.

"Hey, may I know why am I here?" Kyle asked, but Sharon didn't seem to notice.

Shortly after, a nurse came in to check Kyle's vitals. It leads Kyle into confusion.

"Uh, may I know what happened to me?" Kyle asked.

"Do you remember anything?" the nurse asked.

"Remember what?" Kyle asked.

"The incident last night, anything?" the nurse asked.

"Last night?" Kyle mumbled. "We're at the pool together. Right, Sharon?"

"What do you mean?" Sharon asked.

"You and Kristian introduced yourselves to me last night. I clearly remember it." Kyle said.

The nurse then asked Sharon some questions.

"When is it?" the nurse asked.

"That happened a month ago," Sharon said.

"Alright, thank you," the nurse said and left.

Sharon looked at Kyle differently. "Did you lost your memory, or are you just acting?" she said.

"What are you talking about?" Kyle said. "What time is it? I might be late for the convention."

Sharon didn't expect this. She can't take the next move once Kyle lost his memories. She has to do it all over again.

"It's already our semestral break," Sharon said. "Enrollment starts in a few days, so better recover now, and we still have a lot of things to do."

"What?" Kyle said. "Are you joking?"

"Why should I?" Sharon asked, handed him his cellphone.

"What's this?" Kyle asked, pointing at his phone.

"That's your phone," Sharon said.

"What? How?" Kyle asked.

"Long story," Sharon said. "I'm going to leave you here. I have some business to do."

Sharon left the room, leaving Kyle alone. Kyle got a lot of questions in his head. He doesn't know what to do first. As he opened his phone, Kyle got a lot of messages from his friends

"Hey, where are you?" - Kent

"Can you answer my call for this time?" - Kurt

"Where did you go, you little brat." - Josh

"Answer the call!" - Liam

"Send a message when you saw this message." - Kristian

"Kristian? How close are we?" Kyle thought. Given the short time they met.

"Kyle, How are you?" Lia said as she entered the room.

"I'm good, Secretary Chen," Kyle said. "I'm sorry about the convention. I might be late."

"Uh, what do you mean?" Lia asked.

"Today is the convention? Am I right?" Kyle said.

"About that, let me talk to the doctor first. I'll be back," Lia said.
