__Dipper's POV__
It's our first day of summer vacation, here in Undertale City. I woke up in our still beige room and walked out and went to the dining room where Frisk showed us. It was 9. As Frisk instructed us yesterday, the breakfast should normally be on the table. I entered the room, and the only person was there was Frisk. Mabel woke up earlier and might be exploring, or maybe at the spa.
"Mabel went to the spa. FYI." Frisk says as she spread her bread.
Yep.
"What are you doing up this late? Well, not that late but you get the idea." I ask her.
"I worked too hard last night because of my work as an ambassador."
I pull out a chair and sat down where my meal was, it had a nametag beside the plate.
"Wow! Must be interesting!" I exclaim.
"And hard. Dad helps me with it sometimes."
"So.....What do you suggest Mabel and I do today?"
"Maybe try some fun stuff by finding secret rooms. I can see you're an intellectual as well. In the study, some books recount the history of this city. If you're interested."
"I'll be glad to," I tell her.
After eating, we both left, she accompanied me to the study.
"This is where dad and I work most of the time. Here are the books. There are at least three. Here you go." Frisk says as she hands me the books.
"Thanks, I'll read them later, after Mabel and I hang out in the garden."
"You're welcome! Now I have to get ready. Dad will be here in a few minutes." Frisk tells me as I walk out the door.
I wave her bye as I walk back to the door of our bedroom. As I entered, I saw Mabel, fully clothed, putting socks.
"Hey, Dipdip! What do you wanna do today?" She greets me.
"Frisk gave me these books about the city, I'll read them later," I say we go to the hallway once more. "I was thinking we'd go find secret rooms."
"Secret rooms? Aw Yeah!" Mabel puts her fist in the air.
"But first, we gotta find stuff that is out of the blue. Which might be hard. this place is huge. I wonder how they pay taxes with a palace like this, plus the secret rooms." I wonder. Mabel nods as we walk outside in the garden, to see what was out there.
As we checked around, Toby ran to us.
" Hey boy, you know this place very well. Think you can lead us to a secret room?" I ask him. Toby barks of joy and runs back to the palace. Mabel and I look at each other in the eye, and follow him.
Toby ran into the palace, and lead us to the study room. He scratched on the door until it opened. Frisk wasn't there. I wonder where she went. Maybe in the secret room? Toby runs to a bookshelf and taps it with his paw.
"Ah, the classic bookshelf door," I reply as I check what book would lead us there. I didn't want to check all the books. So I examined to see what would stand out. I saw 6 books. Strangely the same colors as the hearts of the stained windows. Plus they had hearts on them. I decided to pull one of them, but nothing happened. I then decided to pull all 6, and a door opened.
Mabel and I look curiously. Toby already went inside, and we heard the faint voices of Frisk and Asgore. They must've gotten some stuff. I grab Mabel's hand and we enter the entrance, just before it closes.
Once inside. It was completely dark. I couldn't feel Toby at all.
That's when on cue, torches lit up, showing the path, and we finally could see Toby in the distance, turning towards us, with a cute puppy smile on his face. Already seeing us, he runs off.
Mabel and I follow him as I wonder how the royal family had to afford this. This city is new, after all.
When we left the pathway, Mabel and I were faced with a beautiful room, lit up with colorful lights and atmosphere. There were six coffins with the hearts again.
"Who are in these coffins?" Mabel asks.
"I remember Frisk talking about six kids who had souls like us, but died. This must be where they laid to rest." I explain.
"How did they die?"
"Who knows. Maybe the six books on the shelf are their biographies." I reply.
"Maybe checking out the chests will give us more information about them," Mabel says as she walks to said chests, that were in front of the coffins.
" Mabel I don't think that's a good idea. I don't want to disrupt their resting places and their possessions. Look at the portraits over the coffins. They show how they look like." I explain to her, pointing her to the portraits.
"They look so pretty! Look! One is a dancer! One is a cowboy! A cook!..." Mabel admires the painting. I walk to one of them. It was a worn-out coffin. It was old. Not cleaned like the rest. It was in a corner. Hidden. I walked to it. It had a red heart. Something felt weird about it. Worried, I crept a look into the coffin. There was nothing inside. Just bandages.
" Mabel, look. this coffin had nothing inside. It's kept away from all the others. It has a red heart, which is not a color identified within the dead children." I call her. She runs to me and takes a look inside as well.
"Maybe it was stolen? Or it was like one of those deaths where people think the dead person is dead, but isn't. They probably found out and saved the child from being buried alive." She says.
" Glad to know my analytical personality is rubbing onto you." I tease her.
" *gasp* No! I'm turning into a dork! No! Nooooooooooooo!" Mabel acts dramatically as she falls to her feet. We both laugh after that. "Where's Toby?" She asks. I wonder the same thing as we turned out heads to find the pomeranian. We finally found him. He was sleeping on the green heart coffin.
" I wonder what kind of souls traits these are?" I ask myself.
" You'll find out soon anyway. Either by asking Frisk or by reading the books she gave you." Mabel replies as she carries the sleep[ing pup as well go back to the pathway with the torches. As we walk to the very end, I realize how were we going to leave the secret room. there was nothing to do get open the door from inside. I panicked. That is until the door automatically opens by itself. We come out and are faced with an empty study. I wonder why Frisk and Asgore weren't there. That is until I checked my watch. It was lunchtime. Time passed so quickly! The three of us leave the entrance an study.
"Do you think we will return here?" Mabel asks.
"Probably not, but the royal family will know we went here because Frisk told them that we would be checking out secret rooms. Maybe there will be a day where we will go back to the room and mourn for the loss of the children." I assume directly.
We go to the dining room and were greeted by Toriel, Frisk, Asgore, and Chara.
" Hello, children! Frisk told us you were out exploring the secret rooms! found any?" Toriel exclaims.
" Yeah. A coffin room. There were 6 coffins with hearts and chests and portraits. There was another coffin as well, with a red heart. It was empty, however. I would just like to know what happened."
"Well, I wouldn't want to spoil the story that you will read later..." Frisk teases. Chara slams her hand on the table, looking at Frisk with a stern face.
"Hey, relax..." Frisk tells her. "If you're gonna find more secret rooms, there aren't anymore. Honest. Much to my disappointment, it would've been fun y' know? But then the castle would be way too big." She then faces us, finishing the whole 'secret rooms' thing.
