__???'s POV__
"C'mon Gaster, we're gonna be late!"
"Mint, it's only late afternoon, the ceremony starts at night."
"But I'm so excited! Parties, food, joy, and celebration! Doesn't that make your non-existent heartbeat?"
"Mint, it's the day of the dead, people will be mourning for us."
"Buuuuuuuut, they will do the festivities right after Alita!"
The french sighs. The tall skeleton opens up a portal to the mortal world.
"It was about time we got out of the vast empty black space anyway." The blue soul shrugs and enters, with the rest of us right behind.
Oh, this was gonna be so much fun.
__3rd Person POV__
"Today is the day where we shall all commemorate the six human souls: Integrity, Kindness, Bravery, Justice, Patience, and Perseverance. We shall spend the first few hours to mourn their quick deaths and hope they have a good trip in the afterlife..." Asgore began his speech at the feast. Everyone was there, it was basically a very long row of tables shaped like a rectangle, and every monster sat down, humans included.
The first hours they will spend the time eating and mourning the dead souls by going to the coffins put on display and give out flowers or prayers. Then, they all celebrate, knowing that the dead ones wouldn't want them to be sad the entire night.
As Asgore spoke, Mabel yawned out of exhaustion, Dipper was listening attentively, quite interested in the subject matter, Frisk was looking out in the sky, waiting for the souls and gaster to arrive.
Sans, who wasn't far from the royal family-the ones who are close to them are friends-was anxious. It was the day. now or never. It was time he got rid of the dead soul in his nightmares. or else he'd have to wait a whole year to get rid of it.
Undyne however, was also anxious. She wanted the answer to the smile. Her smile. Frisk, Flowey, and Chara are the only ones who can see souls. So when the mourning is over, she will ask Frisk, to ask Mint about why she smiled when Undyne impaled her. And she'd get the answer. It's pretty much easy, but why did it feel so hard to do?
Asgore finished his speech, everyone stood up and clapped him. On cue, the royal guards brought the coffins and everyone left their seats to pay their respects. Sans and Undyen rushed to the green and blue coffin respectively.
And right above them, the ghosts followed them curiously. Frisk was already at the green coffin, so when Undyen rushed up to her, she was quite confused.
"Undyne? Why are you such in a rush? Don't want to be stuck in the line?" She teases.
"Listen, kid, you can see the souls, now, do me a favor of the utmost importance."
Frisk's teasing smile faded. "Of course." She replies, standing up.
" Is the green soul with you?" Undyne continues. Frisk looks around and shakes her head, she then looks up and signals the green soul to go down, no one saw the ghost, of course, but Undyne just sees it as a normal thing.
"Now she is," Frisk says.
"The green soul has to give me an answer to why she smiled even after I impaled her! It's been haunting me for years!" She complains.
Frisk nods, she turns to Mint, who already started explaining her response. Once done, frisk turned to Undyne.
"So?"
