Chapter 12 || The Hauntings

All their other deaths were simply accidents. But my motive was to have him dead. He was the piece to getting us out, but still, he was just a child. The cat died with him and the dog became lesser dog.

He was insecure and scared. He did not deserve this fate. They all shouldn't. They didn't even commit genocide on our people. What were we thinking?

Grief.

Asgore's pain made him do something he'd never do. Hurt children. They reminded us so much of her. And from that grief came the worst time for us. We became hungry for revenge after she died, but she was human, and they were too.

Six lives lost. All because of us.

We're the real monsters, but now we have changed. I'm grateful we did. Ever since that brave girl ended her life to join her sister, Alphys felt blameworthy and claimed that she haunts the lab. Like if she felt her presence. And she's not the only one. Sans feels the same. But it's worse, it's nightmares. She taunted him, scared him so badly. And Papyrus cried over the death of his friend, that was killed by one of his, no less. Undyne felt the pressure of killing that sweet young girl, she said that according to her, her eyes were filled with sadness that anyone would feel unhappy about.

Then they closed.

And her heart stopped beating.

We earned it, we did this to them, this is our payback. Hauntings and nightmares. The only one who doesn't suffer is me and Papyrus. The blonde boy never haunted me, and I still wonder why.

I suppose he's resting in peace in the black void we call the afterlife. To this day I'm not sure if spirits can go from there to the real world, and another question that comes to my mind is why her majesty never went there in her time of rest.

Maybe the remaining ones can't pass because their souls have been attached to the person who caused their death.

I don't know myself. Life has questions that don't always need answering.

And it's best if it stays that way.
