Bluepaw sighed heavily as he walked with Oliveleaf towards Purestar, who was sitting below Highledge, talking to Evergreenfur. Purestar turned towards Oliveleaf and Bluepaw, flicking her tail to signal for the two of them to go to her.

Oliveleaf calmly padded over to Purestar, Bluepaw staying where he was for a moment. He took a deep breath before following Oliveleaf to join Purestar. They had to let Purestar know about the news, and it just made things more difficult to see that Evergreenfur would hear the news too. Evergreenfur had been Bluepaw's mentor, and now she would be losing an apprentice.

Purestar and Evergreenfur both turned to Oliveleaf and Bluepaw, both of their expressions unreadable. "Hello Oliveleaf, Bluepaw. Is there something that you needed?" Purestar asked. Oliveleaf nodded. "Yes Purestar." Oliveleaf meowed.

Purestar's ear twitched. She seemed to be intrigued by whatever it is that they would have to share. "Do you want Evergreenfur to be here to hear what you have to say, or would you rather it be only me who hears this." Purestar asked. Oliveleaf turned to Bluepaw, as though asking if he wanted Evergreenfur to stay or not.

Bluepaw hesitated for a moment before giving Oliveleaf a nod, as if to say that she should hear this. "Evergreenfur can stay. Actually, I think that she is the only other cat in the clan that should hear this now." Oliveleaf meowed.

Evergreenfur tilted her head a bit in confusion, but she didn't say anything. "Well then, what is it that you wanted to tell me?" Purestar asked, her tail slowly swishing side to side.

"You already know that Bluepaw can never be a warrior due to his injury Purestar, but we have found a solution for Bluepaw so that he may still serve his clan even if he can't be a warrior." Oliveleaf meowed. Evergreenfur seemed taken aback by the news, shocked to hear that Bluepaw had been injured worse than she must have thought.

Purestar seemed unfazed, although she had clearly heard the news that he would never be a warrior before. "And what is that solution Oliveleaf?" Purestar questioned. "Bluepaw could become a medicine cat." Oliveleaf mewed.

Purestar turned to Bluepaw, her expression unreadable once again. "Is it your wish to become a medicine cat? It is all up to you." Purestar meowed. Bluepaw hesitated for a moment. He wanted to be a warrior, but his injury wouldn't allow him to. He had wanted to be a warrior for the thrill of fighting and winning a battle and the excitement.

But Bluepaw could see now excitement in being a medicine cat. All he could see himself doing being a medicine cat was sitting through herbs and waiting for dreams from Starclan to come to him. He knew about how medicine cats go to the Moonpool ever half moon to meet up, but he didn't know why other than to give a medicine cat apprentice their medicine cat name.Other than that unless it was to exchange knowledge about herbs and dangers near the borders of clans then Bluepaw didn't know what they did.

As much as Bluepaw didn't want to be a medicine cat, he still wanted to serve his clan. And if being a medicine cat was the only way to do that now then he would do it. "Yes, if I can't serve Thunderclan as a warrior, then I will do my best to serve Thunderclan as a medicine cat." Bluepaw meowed, determination filling his mew.

A warm look flooded Purestar's gaze when Bluepaw said that. "Then I'm sure that you will be a great medicine cat Bluepaw." Purestar purred. Bluepaw couldn't help but notice the change in Purestar's behavior. Purestar did tend to encourage her clan mates a lot, but not in this way.

She seemed happy to hear that Bluepaw had found a new path to follow that would allow him to continue serving his clan in a different way. Whenever it came to how the apprentices or kits were doing then Purestar always seemed to be much more gentle and happy around them, at least both gentle and happy whenever the apprentices or kits haven't gotten into trouble.
