"I'm sorry, Evie, but... I want a breakup."
Douchebag.
"I know, you're gonna be all sad about it. But please don't cry for me, alright? I wouldn't want to see you that way at the farewell."
Double Douchebag.
"Please don't take that too hard on yourself. You are free now. But I hope you understand what we were lacking. You know, I did like you, but then... I don't know what happened. It all just stopped making sense, and everything got – "
Triple Douchebag and this is it!
"Yeah, I already figured, Douch – I mean, Keaton. I'm not a kid," I said, closing my locker with a bang, causing him to startle a bit while shooting a wary look.
Yep, that was intentional.
"Look, I've been trying to make things work between us – "
"Whoa, whoa. Wait a minute there," I sneered as I faced him with my arms crossed. "You've been trying? And I thought unlike what others said, your brain worked just fine. I've been living a lie!"
"You're not getting the point. I don't think it's working out anymore. You know what I mean?"
Damn you, Keaton Freaking Hall!
Piercing my invisible 'Prone-to-Kill' laser beams into his eyes, I nodded. "Yeah, of course, I do get it. I get it by that you mean... hanging out, going all flirty with that drama queen Dakota and throwing yourself all over her? Please, Keaton, don't you dare try to fool me around with the pathetic dialogues of yours. I'm sick of them! But I got to appreciate you for the amazing pre-planning. Good job." I gave off a fake smile and a pat on his back.
"Evie, please stop it. You misunderstood things, alright?" Keaton tried to defend himself, unquestionably uselessly, as he brushed his fingers through his messy, dirty blonde hair.
And nope. These oh-not-so-sexy-anymore acts of his weren't affecting me in any way. I'm quite over him already, and when he tries to be cool and sexy, it drives me insane. I used to get smitten by him – used to. It has all died down now, all thanks to Keaton's exceptionally flirtatious behaviour that did not come to a halt even after getting a loyal, faithful, and calm girlfriend like me.
I mean, what the hell is wrong with these guys!? Can't you just be committed, or at least for once be truthful to your partner? If you do not feel the so-called connection anymore, then just spit it out. Tell them before breaking their heart, because when you get caught, all your blabbering and the explanations do not make sense anymore. It simply goes to the trash and is a total waste of time.
"And please, you seriously don't have to worry about me. Where the hell were you since the last month when I needed your help?" Keaton was about to speak up, but I didn't let him and continued. "Oh, of course. Silly me forgets some things. You had your extra football practice that went on throughout the evening. That's the kinda practice routine I've never heard of, you know. And guess what? I heard Dakota's dance group had the same routine. You both must've been practising so hard for the farewell, right? I'm so proud."
