The remaining days of the week went by in hard practice for the selections. Not just with me, but Colt had been working hard for his performance too. He told me that it was always better to bring your own band or musicians along rather depending upon the musicians present there. This was because there's a chance for them to not understand your music notes and the music that comes out is something that you never thought about. If the performance goes rumpled and not in accordance with the way you wanted it to be, the judges are totally going to eliminate you very politely.
As I didn't have Lenna and Darcy with me, and I missed them terribly throughout the practice sessions, Colt and his band-mates agreed to offer me help with the music.
So nice of them, isn't it?
When I told my best friends about this, they were happy, surprised, and sad all at once. They too wanted to be with me as we've always been like 'together-together', especially when it came to our music. Even if they wanted to, they weren't just able to join me.
Darcy's younger sister, Gemma, was down with a high fever and she had to be there for her as both her mom and dad are working. And that was the reason why Lenna couldn't come as well because our band would be incomplete without Darcy. So, they both suggested me to work with Colt's band for now.
I had to agree because I had less time and needed the music to be exactly the way I want. I couldn't practice without music, and I definitely wouldn't stand my performance going all messed up at the last moment.
But I have to agree that Colt's bandmates – Trace and Derick – are very comprehending and friendly. They made me feel comfortable and helped with a few renditions in the music notes, just like me, Lenna and Darcy would work together. They even praised our band and said how they wanted to meet Darcy and Lenna too. That was such a proud moment for me for our band. Other musicians praising us, that is a great feeling.
And today was the day. The day of the singing competition selections. I had just arrived in the waiting room, where the other participants were also present, as I searched for Colt with his bandmates. Mom had dropped me here before going to meet granny. I told her to tell granny that I wasn't feeling well and so couldn't come. I know this wasn't a great idea to lie, but I had to for granny's happiness.
Now, all I'm hoping for is to get selected.
My eyes scanned through the people with familiar faces as I tensed up. He did tell me that he never gets late when it comes to music, but I can see him nowhere. Not even Trace or Derick.
God, this is not good.
I quickly took out my phone and called him up. We obviously exchanged phone numbers as we were, well, friends. The phone was ringing while my toe continuously moved in anticipation within the long boots.
Why isn't he picking up?
My heart was beating like a bullet train in worry as I tried to calm my crazy nerves by taking deep breaths. I didn't pick up my call at once, so I tried again. And this time, he thankfully picked it up.
