"Be quick, Evie

"Be quick, Evie. You'll be late for the graduation ceremony," Mom said hurriedly to me as I gulped on my cereals.

"Almost done!" I replied with my mouth full.

Today is the day of our graduation. The day we will say our final goodbye to Greenville High School. I am extremely happy about it but at the same time, I feel downhearted. Happy; because now we'll start a new chapter of our lives and I will not have to see Keaton or Dakota anymore. Upset; because I am going to miss all the fun that Darcy, Lenna, and I used to have. All the sweet and amazing memories that we have made in Greenville are so cherishing and unforgettable. Of course, we're not going to leave each other. Nope, never gonna happen. But we'll miss our singing and practicing for competitions together. This last year has been quite heartbreaking for me, but the happy memories will always have an upper hand.

"No talking while eating, Ev," murmured dad while reading the morning newspaper.

"Tsk, tsk. Where are your manners, Evie Silva?"

Of course. How can my annoying brother leave the chance of taunting me? (-_-)

I shot him a death glare, "Where were yours, Evander Silva, when you sneakily brought in Candice without informing mom and dad about it –" Evander instantly began to cough loudly, cutting off my sentence.

"You alright, son?"

"Yes, dad. Just choked on my saliva."

As one, Dad and I both gave him an eccentric glance.

"And your mom says he's unique," Dad said with a sigh, making me giggle. "Anyway, drink some water."

Evander nodded and took a sip of water. He then leaned towards me and whispered, "I rescued her. Besides, mom and dad will never accept Candice. She's a baby and I can't leave her."

"How can you just assume that mom and dad will not allow you to keep her? You haven't even talked to them once!" I whispered back in a more scolding tone, which was for Evander's good only. "I honestly doubt they'll be angry to have a turtle in the house. But they're probably going to be angry, and very upset because you are lying to them. And now, you've made me a part of it too."

He must not keep secrets from mom and dad, that too such as having a turtle. I don't really think they will have any problem with that. We all know Evander's love for turtles and people do have them as pets. Besides, Candice sure is a cute turtle. Evander found her just a month ago when he went to the beach with his friends. I happened to find out about his little secret when I entered his room to get back my favorite shower gel that he always steals from my bathroom, obviously without my permission. That was when I saw Candice floating in the small plastic pool in his bathroom. I wanted to talk about it with mom right away but Evander promised that he wanted to tell them himself. It has now been almost two weeks since he promised me that.
