(Talia above)
"So let me get this straight," Talia said as her and Mitch helped me sort through the costumes backstage as a crew of people were testing out the lights and sound on stage and making sure that everything basically worked, "Your ex summer fling has come to Ohio and wants to get back together with you?" I nodded as I moved a hat box down from the upper shelves.
"And you said he was hot," Mitch said, looking at his phone adjusting his hair, "like how hot we talking, like yeah he is physically attractive, or is it oh my god take me on this table right now," he moved his legs in as Talia walked past him with a huge heap of clothes in her arms.
"It doesn't matter, ok?" I said, "I am with Artie and he is amazing, I am happy, end of discussion." Mitch stared at me with squinted eyes and nodded.
"So the second one then," he said, Talia smacked his arm,
"You are useless, do something constructive," she said raising her eyebrow and motioning with her head for him to get up, he rolled his eyes and jumped off the table.
"I am being constructive, I'm trying to figure out how much of a cock block we need to be," he said as he leaned against the wall next to the closet I was sorting out, "and according to my deduction, we have our work cut out for us," I stopped my movement and looked at him warily, he shrugged, "I'm pretty not stupid," I looked back at the closet distracting myself, I yanked out a rack of skirts.
"Can you go through these please, we still need potential Sandy skirts, and other potentials, but Sandy is our main concern." He dropped the subject and gave a slight nod, taking the cart away. I sighed and ran my hands over my ponytail and looked around for my next subject.
I ended up clearing out the entire costume "closet" and vacuumed everything out, cleaning it from top to bottom. And at some point everyone had left, and I was all by myself.
Really it was fine though cause I didn't want to go home and deal with Devon the newly hatched fuck boi. We weren't speaking at the moment... that crack about Artie was not ok.
And since there was no getting through to him at the moment, the silent treatment will have to do. I sat in the middle of the closet organizing everything, not even aware of the time. I don't even know where my phone was and honestly I didn't care. Cleaning is therapeutic, it made me not think and I have found that not thinking is usually the best way to go. I was nearly finished with all of the costumes when I heard the door jingle puzzled I looked for my phone and saw the time.
6:00 AM
oh my god
I called my grandma and told her I was alright immediately and explained, she was ok after I told her what happened. I texted Bella and asked her to bring me some change of clothes and to meet me in the locker room. I finished my work and stepped back and smiled at my accomplishment. I turned and looked out at the rest of the stage, it was a mess. I slumped my shoulders in defeat and walked out of the theater, my body was tired, this fatigue rivaled that of the aftermath of the salmon ladder.
I shuffled through the halls and the people had already started to come into school, I went into the locker room and opened my locker. Shuffling through my stuff I pulled out my shower soaps and other things and plugged my phone on the charge, playing music at the same time. I stepped into the shower and scrubbed the dirt that had accumulated from the nastiness that was the costume closet. I was in and out of the shower in no time but when I reached for my towel I saw it was missing. I stuck my head out from behind the curtain and looked around,
