Finally! It feels like I’ve been waiting forever. For some reason I’m excited for school today. This new kid has been on my mind ever since I dropped him off here yesterday. I mean just look at him, he is very attractive. He looks even better today than he did yesterday. After he gets in the car I can’t help but to smile. I gather myself and drive off.
“So I’m Skyler Fisher, but everyone just calls me Skye. So Kelton James, what about you? I already know you come from New York, but that’s about it.”
When I told him this he shot me a look. I guess wondering how I knew this.
“I have class with your sister and she had to tell the class about herself.”
“Oh, well then I guess you know I’m a twin.”
I nodded at this.
“That’s about it. There’s nothing special.”
“I highly doubt that.”
He laughed at this remark. When he smiled I noticed the littlest dimple in his left cheek. I pulled into the parking lot and we made our way into the school. I smiled and waved as I walked through the halls and made my morning greetings.
I am not a jock and I wouldn’t call myself a “prep” but I guess you could say I am popular. When you are born and raised in such a small isolated community everyone knows everyone. I saw how everybody noticed the new kid following me. So I hung my arm on his shoulder to show that we are new friends. Everyone seemed to except this and stopped staring at him. We went our separate ways to our lockers but we met back up for first period.
We were the first ones in the room, which was new for me. Instead of sitting in my usual seat I decided to sit in the back with him. Like always class moved slowly and quickly lost my interest. I started wondering what he was thinking about. So I passed him a note.
You want to get out of here?
He just looked at me. I think he thinks I’m crazy. When I look back at him I saw him writing back to me. Stealthily I took the note back from him. I smiled as I read it and hastily replied back.
When class is over, just meet me by the gym.
He just shrugged and nodded his head. Thankfully the class ended in no time at all. I went to my locker and grabbed my stuff. I went to meet Kelton by the gym. I leaned up against the wall and waited for him. I started to wonder if he was coming.
“Sorry, I had to find my sister and tell her I wasn’t going to be in my classes.”
“Oh that’s cool. You’re fine.”
So I sneaked us out the back door.
"So where are we going?”
“Where do you want to go?”
I laughed.
“Well we can’t really go anywhere here in town because we would get caught skipping school.”
He just looked at me.
“Then why did we leave?”
“Well we could leave town but we wouldn’t be back in time for the end of school. Or we could go to one of our houses.”
“Whatever.”
So I started off towards my house.
