^^^ the above video is what this basketball scene and the last chapter's is based on. The last court they show in the video is my home town and I have played in that barn!^^^
After about an hour of playing I notice Skye was starting to look at his phone more and gathering up his stuff. I didn’t want him to leave so I decided to head out with him.
“Hey guys I have to go! Skye’s my ride!”
They all yelled bye and then argued what they were going to do with an odd number. I headed toward the ladder. As soon as I stepped down, Skye threw my shirt at me. I smiled.
“Thanks, I was looking for that.”
He wasn’t smiling though. We walked in silence.
“Why did you have to do that?”
“Do what?”
“You know!”
“What, it’s not like anyone noticed. Like Caleb said it was hot in there.”
We got in the car and I could tell he was still upset with me. So I apologized.
“Skye, I’m sorry. I just didn’t think it would be that big of a deal.”
“A big deal? You take off your shirt and then half of the population under that age of 30 sees me blushing! I would say that’s a big deal.”
“They didn’t see you blush, they saw you over heated.”
He just turned and glared at me.
“I mean we just talked about all of this this morning. Maybe we shouldn’t hang out anymore.”
I was shocked when he said this. I looked over at him and I could see on his face that wasn’t what he wanted either. It was silent and we pulled into the drive. I didn’t want to end things like this. I just sat there trying to think of what to say or do to fix this.
I leaned over and with both hands on either side of his face pulled him closer and kissed him. He seemed to be caught totally off guard and fought back a little bit before giving in. My heart was racing so rapidly. But just as fast as the kiss had begun it ended.
He quickly pulled away, almost pinned up against the window. He looked down, like he was ashamed. It felt like I was slapped in the face and I got out of the car without saying a word.
I went to open the door to the house and almost hit Kayla, who was on her way out. She smiled and continued on her way to the car. I just nodded and waved bye. I watched as they pulled away.
When you are in an extreme emotional confusion the last thing you want is an empty house to yourself. Your mind finds too much time and silence to create many different scenarios that just make things worse.
So I turned on the TV and made some frozen pizza, but nothing worked and I started to go crazy. I was starting to think I should have stayed at the gym.
As I laid on the couch just listening to music I heard a car door. I fought the urge to get up and look out the window. Shortly after, Kayla walked in the house.
“Hey!”
“Hi!”
She came over and sat on the couch with me. She was just smiling like crazy. I started to become curious. It’s never a good thing when she smiles this much at me.
“So you and Skye…”
“What?”
She just gave me that look like she’s saying “come on” with her eyes.
“You’re dating Skye Fisher! And don’t lie to me, I saw you two in the car!”
