"Save the what now!?" Mina and Kaminari both asked. Ayami resisted the urge to face-palm and tried to turn her attention to the task at hand, though she still managed to catch Tooru's explanation.
"Bystanders," the invisible girl repeated with a sigh, likely shaking her head. "We learned about them in class, remember? They're people at the disaster scene."
"It can also simply refer to innocent citizens on the street," added Momo.
"Use this time to show us how you will carry out successful rescue procedures once you receive your Provisional Hero Licenses," Mera explained. "Treat this as though it were the real thing."
From the screen, Ayami noticed movement out of the corner of her eyes, which widened when she focused. There were people out there, wounded; elders, children, etc. "What!? When did they get there!? I didn't pick up a single trace with my aura-reading, and it never fails!"
"These specialists have been trained as professional persons in need of rescue. They're very popular. Introducing the Help Us Company, also known as HUC for short." Upon the introduction, one of the people on camera smiled and waved, displaying a can of fake blood.
"So they're basically actors, I guess?" Sero presumed, though he ended it sounding so unsure it could be mistaken as a question.
"It's the kind of job you never think about," Tsu remarked thoughtfully.
Ojiro nodded. "Yeah, but a necessary one in our world, since they support our hero training," he pointed out.
Ayami breathed a sigh of relief. At least they were just planted there; not really hurt, just sent out to aid in our exam. No one's really in pain.
"The HUC bystanders have dressed up like injured victims and will be located throughout the disaster sites. We'll be judging how well you keep them safe as you go about your mission. Oh, by the way, we'll be scoring you on a point system. If you have more points than the benchmark at the time the exercise comes to an end, then you pass the exam. We're starting in ten minutes; take care of any necessary preparations now."
She noticed Iida and Midoriya muttering about the Kamino Ward incident, wondering if that was the basis for this exercise. Back then, their only goal was saving Bakugou, not to mention Ayami was preoccupied by her former foster home and everything involving Mother Kaibutsu, Aru, and her belongings, as well as saving Mt. Lady and Best Jeanist. However, she could remember bits and pieces of heroes going in to save civilians.
Ayami turned around when she heard heavy footsteps, and saw Kumori- the origin of said footsteps; again, he loved his shoes- with Shinobu following close behind. "You two know what that means, right?" She asked them.
The albino boy raised his gloved hand in the air with a grin. "Oh! Yeah, totally! Time to bring out our inner Kana!"
"... What?" Kumori and Ayami asked at once, with the latter continuing, "If anything, we should be 'bringing out' our inner Hayako, since she was the first one ready to fight and rescue us for good."
"You know, like Kana's caring, protective side! The one that we said had an influence on us!? It's in all of us, and now we need to use it in this rescue exercise!" He explained passionately.
"I was going to say that regardless of school or origin, we should all cooperate to maximize the amount of kids passing, but okay, I guess that works," she shrugged.
"Not that anyone knows what 'inner Kana' means," Kumori added, much to the pale boy's dismay.
"It doesn't matter; we know what it means, so that's good enough, right!?" He looked ready to continue the argument, but closed his mouth and took a breath. "You know, whatever, right? Let's just do this thing and take home the cake."
