Chapter 17

"Hey."

I guffawed. He is just so gorgeous.

Snap out of it Britt!

"I know I'm gorgeous but you should stop drooling over me." He said and my eyes widen in horror. I'm drooling?!?  I shriek internally. I wipe my mouth frantically and when I dont find any drool I sigh in relief, then glare at Mr. Gorgeous. He laughs lightly, which makes me glare harder but playfully. "Cocky much?" I asked playfully and he chuckles and I smile . We look into each others eyes and for a moment I find myself lost in his beautiful eyes, though it's not filled with emotion but rather mystery.

Though I just met him it feels like I've known him for a long time . His pretty eyes look familiar and the tingling feeling in my stomach I get when I hear him laugh is also familiar. Maybe I've met him somewhere before? Nah  . He snapped his fingers in my face and I snapped out of my thoughts. "I'm Ryder. Damien " He said and I smirked, "What. Like Bond, James Bond ?" I asked and he chuckled again. " What's your name beautiful?" I blushed a little and looked down again. "Uhm... I'm Andrews. Brittany Andrews." I mimicked him .

Wait a minute, did he just say his name is Damien Ryder? I remember that name from somewhere. I thought. "Wait a minute. Dammy?" I called him by the nickname I used to call a friend of mine called Damien Ryder. He tensed up for a minute before his eyes grew  wide as if he just realised something. " Titi? " he called. I sqealed excitedly and hugged him tightly as he turned me around once and put me back on my feet. I saw a few people in the hallway turn to give us weird looks as a few girls glared daggers at me. I ignored them, I'm so happy!!

"Oh my God Dammy. I miss you so much! How long has it been, like 3 years?" I asked and he nodded.  He was smiling so hard I thought his face would fall off. Then it hit me and I frowned and he mirrored my action but with a bit of confusion. "What's wrong Titi? " he asked, looking a little concerned at my sudden change in mood. "You left." I said in a voice that almost sounded like a whisper but I know he heard me. He tensed up at my words and looked down. "You didn't even say a word." I continued in a sad voice. He looked up and pulled me into a hug before I could even shed a tear. I hugged him tightly.

He knew exactly what I was talking about. He and I used to do everything together during the summer. Our dads were business partners and we got to spend all our summers together at the Bahamas. Then His mum passed away 3years ago from cancer  . I didnt even know about it till he moved away. He never told me his mum had cancer. Then all of a sudden he stopped coming for vacation at the Bahamas.

I asked my dad why and he explain his mother's condition and that Damien stopped coming for vacation because he was now in a boarding school. Because his dad was always busy working all the time he didn't have enough time to take care of him so he just shipped him off to a boarding school in Utah. It realy hurt my feelings that he didn't trust me enough to tell me about his mother's condition . We were so close that our parents thought we would eventually start dating and end up married and take over our families companies. We have so much in common. And to lose such a friend was such a low blow to me.

"It's okay... I'm here now. And I'm not going anywhere. " he reassured me in a soft voice and I smiled. I really do miss him. When I open my eyes I thought I saw someone like Alex glaring at us and how close we are and when I blinked he was gone. Then I felt that pang in my chest again. Why has he been avoiding me? I shake it off and untangle my arms from around Damien's torso and smile at him, which he returns.

"I think we should go get some lunch before the bell goes. "He says and I nod. We talked about the things that have happened to us during the time we were apart to catch up. He told me everything there is to know about boarding school life and all about his relationship life. Apparently, I was right about he being a badass and now he is also a player. I told him about my life too. About the whole situation with Austin and Skyla and he was beyond pissed. So I decided not to touch on Alex subject for now.

Now we were walking through the cafeteria and all eyes were turned to us. I really didn't care because I am already used to this. I heard a few student whispering stuff about me and Damien but I shrugged it off. Damien seemed to be enjoying the attention from the girls cause I saw him winking at a few and rolled my eyes at him. "Could you at least flirt with the girls when I'm not looking.  The looks they are giving me are disturbing." I said and he chuckled and pulled me to his side, smirking at me." Jealous much?" He asked, still smirking and I rolled my eyes again. "Seriously?" I asked and he chuckled again, I guess it's a habit of his.

When we got to the table where Skyla and a few of her friends were sitting we joined them at the table while they stared at us in shock. I would've said they were my friends too but I know better than to call those bitches my friends. They didn't really like me much and I must say... The feeling is mutual. I realized they were still staring so I stretched my hand to grab a fry from Sky's plate and ahe broke out of her daze and swatted my hand away, glaring at me. I chuckled, and grabbed a slice of pizza from the plate I was sharing with Damien and took a bite. Damien took a bite from the other side and I gasped in shock before I  glared  at him.

He smiled innocently while chewing, " how dare you?" I said dramatically and he rolled eyes at me. Someone cleared their throat and I remembered we were seated at a table filled with jocks, badasses and cheerleaders. I know weird combination, but some jocks and cheerleaders are badasses so it works quite well. "What?" I asked as I swallowed my food. " Britt, why don't you introduce us to your friend here. " sky said in a voice that made me realise she was crushing on Damien and I smirked. "Oh, I forgot. Where are my manners?" I said sarcastically." You don't have any." She replied and this time I glared at her before answering with a sigh.

"Dammy... This is my best friend Skylar. Sky... This is Damien Ryder." I said with a shrug as I ate my pizza and Dammy and sky exchaged pleasantries before sky turned to me with a raised eyebrow. I know that look, " So... Damien. How do you and Britt know each other." She asked him with her eyes still on me. "Oh... Uhm. Titi and I have been friends for years. Our dads are business partners." He said with a shrug and sky's lips form into an 'o' but her eyes are telling me something else. God I just pray we don't get let alone today.

Dammy talked to everyone at the table and got along quite well with everyone. He even flirted with a few girls that kept eyeing him like candy the whole time we were at lunch. The whole time I felt a pair of eyes discreetly watching me and I knew it was Alex so I fought hard to resist the urge of turning to look at him. Whicj had me fidgeting in my seat a few times. After lunch, Damien and I compared our schedules to check the classes we had and our schedules were similar. Just that I took AP Maths and he took AP Calculus. Apart from that, were together for all otherlessons and I was excited.

The tardy bell rung and I groaned but then smiled after and Dammy looked at me weirdly. "I guess We're both going to detention dammy . " i said with a smile and he looked like he was really confused so i tapped his shoulder shaking my head but still smiling, "Nevermind." Was all i said to him
