Dear Gilbert,
I do believe you may be some sort of magic. Not days after receiving your letter, I've received some of the best news of my life.
The Campbell's have offered to take me in as one of their own. I will have a home. I will be part of a true family, can you believe it, Gilbert? I could practically fly away with giddiness!
But it seems as though the both of us have reached new levels of joy. How astounding it must be to adventure in such a distant land. I can't say I've heard of chaconia but your description suits to show me it's beauty. You must be enjoying your time thoroughly. It gives me no appeasement to give you this news then, but I feel as a citizen of Avonlea you have the right to know.
The geologist. The one residing at Green Gables. He's found gold in the soil. Your land, too, may contain some. I must admit the entire situation fills me with an odd sense of unease. Either way, I've relayed the information and any further decision is your own. Anne promises to send a letter as well with more of the science know-how then I am capable of detailing regarding the whole situation.
Warm regards,
Penelope S.C.
P.S. Did you see? S.C.! For Sullivan-Campbell!
P.S. Of course Anne isn't the only one who misses you! The others at school speak often of you and even Mr. Phillips is bemoaning the loss of his best student.

"I believe a terrifyingly evil curse has befallen Avonlea. It pervades every alcove and crevice, every tree and flower. All the spirits are stirring. I'm nearly certain I saw a ghostly white lady down by the brook."
Penelope could only blink twice as Anne came bustling into the clubhouse, hands gripping her slate tightly and face a perfect mask of horror.
"What does she want?" Ruby was shaking her head, the color draining from her complexion as her eyes began to well and Penelope felt her heartbeat begin to quicken as the pleasant chirping of the birds outside seemed to transition into echoing and haunting caws.
"Us!" Anne knelt down with wide eyes, "Oh, couldn't you just die of fright?"
"It's not real, Ruby. Right, Anne?" Diana raised an eyebrow at Anne but even the raven-haired beauty seemed to be inhaling shakily.
"Thank you, Ruby. I take your tears as the highest compliment," Anne's countenance instantly flipped, a bright smile taking over her freckled face, "I call my story Haunted Dell: A Most Shuddersome Tale,"
Penelope felt her eyes widen as the moment a giggle escaped the red-haired savant's mouth, the girls perched across began to pack up their things with a nervous haste.
"You know how I admire your imagination, Anne," Diana smiled shakily, belongings clutched tightly to her chest, "But I just remembered, I'm due at home,"
"I better get home, too. It's getting dark." Ruby agreed with a stick straight spine before glancing down at Penny who had yet to move from her perch, "Would you like to join us, Penny?"
Penelope gave a simple shake of the head as Anne stood in confusion as she faced her fleeing friends, "But I haven't told you the ending yet. I haven't thought of it, but it promises to be very sinister."
"Tomorrow maybe," Diana's proper demeanor struggling to hold tactfully, "On the walk to school. A little further from Twilight. Bye."
Well wishes for the journey home and the pair were off, Anne tilted her head before turning back to Penny inquisitively as though unable to even ponder why the other girls had run off.
