An Alpha Story

Chapter 8

I was taken straight to a car. There were three actually and turns out my father's men,who happen to be mine now are very alive.Only three though.

With a clearer view, I saw that these were Alex,Theo and Jay. I was in the car with Theo who explained that the other men were tortured and didn't eat their food as a sign of none corporation. In no time,they died one by one.

"I will explain the rest when we are at our land Alpha." He said.

This was because the driver was part of Roman's pack and the last thing we wanted was his pack knowing our business.

I hope that you forgive me. Roman mindlinked me.

With that,I blocked him out of my mind. I got distracted a little,but within minutes I fell into a somewhat deep sleep.

I woke up to a soft shake from Theo.

"We are home." He stated.

I walked out to find a whole bunch of my people waiting on us. In front of the crowd were Joseph and Mesalla,his son.

Before I left with my parents,Joseph was my father's Beta,but Mesalla's birthday was before mine and so he took his father's role. He was now, my beta.

"Welcome home," he said smiling pleasantly.

"Thank you" I replied.

Howls and shrieks that well described as being pleased to have their leader home.

This made me happy. Extremly happy.

I settled into my house that afternoon,taking a long bath and finally picking out clothes from my own closet. "Finally"

After an hour of sleep,it was now 7pm, there was a knock at the door.

I opened to see Mesalla. For the first time I looked at him,his features. I never noticed he had hazel eyes,more rich in the red side than the brown. He was taller than me, and very well built. Hell,he was handsome.

"Hi, come in please.How can I help you?" I asked him pretending I didn't just scan his every body part.

"We have a lot to discuss. Things that can't wait," He said with a serious tone.

I nodded.

"Tell me about the men that were with my father,on the day of his death?"

"When you left the pack,my father anonymously brought out the ten men to surround you wherever you went. This was because you as the future alpha was supposed to be safe no matter what happened. As you know your father was quite the stubborn man,he wanted no one in danger from the pack,even you though. But he insisted he would protect you."

He went on " Those men were set up to signal the pack,and if an emergency to give your father direct signal. And that day? Well it was an emergency because the attackers were from the rogue pack. Nali's pack. They had followed your every move and when they saw you settle, it did not make her happy at all. But events had taken a worse turn because it seems they had no intention to kill the alpha and his luna. She wanted to do this alone. That's where Alpha Roman comes in. He killed our former alpha and worse off,he killed Nali's mate,her long lost love. So now its up to our plans. Either we get to Roman first,or she does. We should be lucky he let you go because we now have an advantage to avenge your father's death." He finally took a breather.

His words stung,surprisingly. I had not told anyone he was my mate. My revenge was supposed to deny being his mate and stay as far away from him as possible. Looks like my plan would backfire,on the look of my beta's face,he wanted revenge. Nothing more.

"Let's call it a night. I will get back to you on this tomorrow morning." I said looking at the thin air ahead of me.

He nodded,even though his expression showed he was agitated, he left.

I now had mixed feelings. My mind wanted to watch him die. To be killed by me if possible, to be tortured also. But my heart,body and wolf just couldn't take the thought. He's our mate was all my wolf howled. I had to make up my mind, either I told my pack he was my mate or I had my revenge.

I knew one thing was for sure,if he was presented as my mate,my pack would be disappointed but accept him instantly. Mates were an important addition to our pack and as a couple strengthened each other. In my case,it was a powerful bond. He and I were both alphas.

Just thinking of myself with Roman reminded me of Lenny. She hadn't come back to see me or even to say goodbye. She was a good friend to me,and probably my very first real friend. I missed her horribly but I didn't know if I would see her again. With all these troublesome thoughts,I drifted to sleep soundlessly. I must have been exhausted because the next morning,I woke up late. Ten o'clock to be precise.

I quickly took a shower and got dressed. I rushed down the stairs straight to the kitchen when I heard a knock on my door. "Beta Mesalla" I thought.

"I see you are awake," Joseph smiled at me softly.

"Yes.Please come on in." I replied smiling back.

He sat down on the couch.

"I should assume you spoke to your beta last night?" He said not really asking

"Yes. He explained the situation to me. It was a lot to take in." I said.

"I am only here for one thing though." He said seriously.

"What is that?" I asked.

"Mesalla mentioned you had a wary face when he mentioned our revenge to alpha Roman. Now he may be a little naive but I am not. Any wolf would jump at the chance to avenge their parent's death and you,to him that is,didn't look enthusiastic. What should I know about that?" He asked with a worried expression now.

Joseph was close to me. My father was always so busy,so I always spoke to Joseph when I had the chance. And now,was my chance to either tell the truth,or lie to his face which was almost impossible because I was a terrible liar.

"Ro....Roman," I breathed heavily " Roman is my mate Joseph." I finished my sentence.

His eyes grew wide in shock.
