"That was wicked cool!" Ron manages to say in between gasps for air as he continues to laugh over what just happened with Draco.
The 5 of us continue to laugh over what had happened with Blondie as we sit in one of the cabins in the train. Hermione and Ron on one side while Harry, Ginny and I sit across from them on the other side.
"I haven't seen anyone do anything like that to him before," Ginny giggles.
"There's always a first for everything," I say smiling and winking at her.
"You're quite bold, y/n, I'm quite excited for your first year here," Hermione says.
"She's right, we're going to need that energy this year, I heard Draco's got some trouble at home or something again so he's going to be more of a pain in the ass this year," Harry adds.
"Hmm, I'm glad this works in your favour and I can be one to put him in his place. It gives me the chance to take any stress out on something and it gives me something to entertain myself with this year," I laugh.
Yeah, no they aren't bad. Possibly the only group of friends I've met in the past 5 years that I've actually liked and gotten along with in the first 10 minutes of knowing them.
The 5 of us talk and laugh as we're engaged in conversation for about 30 minutes which felt like only a couple minutes as I get to know more about them. When a tall, shy looking and brown haired boy stands at the entrance to the cabin.
We all turn to him as he begins to say, "hey guys, listen I need your-," he stops mid sentence as he makes eye contact with me.
"I- wow, hi, um, sorry," he stutters nervously. I can hear Ron and Hermione giggling in the background like little schoolgirls.
I give him a small smile, not really knowing what to do and introduce myself, "Hi, my name's y/n, I'm new."
He slowly begins to relax and returns the smile, "I'm Neville, nice to meet you." He turns to the rest of the group, "is she in Gryffindor?"
"We don't know yet," Harry answers. "I hope so," Ginny says as Hermione and Ron nod their head in agreement.
"Yeah uh me too," Neville quietly says before clearing his throat.
"Right, what did you need Neville?" Ginny asks trying to clear the awkwardness.
"I lost Trevor again, could you guys help me find him?" He sheepishly asks.
The groups groans as Hermione says, "come on Neville, every year?"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I don't even know how it happened," he tries to say as they all get up to their feet, probably to go help him.
Hermione and Ginny turn back to look at me as I'm the only person still sitting, I slowly start to get up before Ginny says, "oh you can stay here if you want, we're just going to go help Neville find his pet frog and then be right back!"
"Plus, I put this tracking spell on the frog a year ago just in case this happened again, so it's fine we'll be quick," Hermione adds.
"Okay yeah sounds good to me," I tell them. I assure them that I'll be fine waiting for them and it's good because I wanted a couple minutes to myself to process that this is really happening, that I'm really going to the celebrated school that is Hogwarts.
They laugh as they walk out leaving me the cabin all to myself.
I move to the end of the cabin, to the seat closest to the window and I lean my head against it. As I watch the green blur that is trees blending together because of how fast the trains moving, I think. I think about how I'm about to start over at a new school.
