Everyone in front of us start to shuffle into the room, as we stay in the back letting everyone behind us go so we can all talk more. I walk into the room while I talk with Adrian trying to draw the least amount of attention to myself as I can, seeing as though I've had eyes on me almost for the entirety that I've been here.
The common room is large with a couple wooden tables, with fancy sort of markings carved into them, here and there surrounded with chairs. There's a big, soft, dark green couch placed in front of the fireplace with smaller couches on either of it's sides. As I look around, taking in the room, I see that it seems to have a color scheme of some sort, green and black, must be the Slytherin house colors. The walls are littered with paintings here and there, bookshelves holding many books and on the far right wall is a trophy case of some sort.
My fellow housemates and I start to gather around Draco and Pansy as they start to talk.
"Alright let's go over the rules we need to follow this school year, for our new housemates and to refresh," Pansy begins, "you are not allowed to be roaming the halls of the school after curfew which is 10:00 p.m., remember the Forbidden Forest is well, forbidden so stay out of it please and thank you, we don't need people following the stupidity of Gryffindor's finest: Harry, Ron and Hermione," she jokes which earns her a few snickers.
Not comfortable with how my friends are being talked about, I clench my fists and bite on my lower lip to keep from causing anymore trouble tonight. Trying not to think about it too much, I fiddle with my most prized possession that I keep hanging around my neck, my rose and dagger necklace.
Pansy continues to go over rules but I don't pay much attention to her, noticing my lack of interest in what Pansy's going over, Adrian whispers to me, "Have you made any plans for this weekend?"
"No why," I ask.
"Okay good, how about I take you to Hogsmeade on Saturday. Everyone goes there, there are shops, pubs, and stuff to do there. It'll be a fun way to settle in," he suggests.
Seeing no problem with this, I reply, "Yeah okay, that sounds fun, let's do it."
"No boys in the girl dormitories and no girls in the boys dormitories," Draco booms from the front of the crowd. Startling Adrian and I a little, we jump and turn to the front to see Draco glaring at us. Pansy's clearly shocked with his little outburst and says with slight confusion, "yes, Draco, I already went over that."
"Just wanted to repeat it in case some people didn't hear you the first time," he snaps at her while eyeing Adrian and I.
"Alright, so girls follow me to the girls dormitory and boys you will follow Draco," she says while rolling her eyes at Draco and gesturing for the girls to follow her.
I say goodnight to Adrian, Dean, and Blaise before I join Tracey and Daphne with the rest of the girls led by Pansy. While Pansy is leading us to our dorms, Daphne and Tracey tell me that they have a free bed in their room since the girl they shared their room with last year had finished at Hogwarts. They help me grab my stuff from the hall as they guide me to our room where their stuff is already waiting for them.
It's about 9:00p.m. at this time so I start to unpack. I realize that I feel disgusting and exhausted after the day I've had so I ask the girls where the showers are. They point down the hall to where the showers are across the bathroom.
I start to undress and keeping my bra and panties on, but grabbing a towel to wrap myself in so I'm not just walking down the hall half naked. As I'm grabbing my toiletry bag, I feel a gust of cool air against my bare chest. My hand files to my neckline and panic rushes through me as I realize my necklace isn't around my neck anymore.
I can feel my breathing quickening as I try to relax and think of the last time I knew I had it on me remembering I had been playing with it while Pansy talked about the rules and shit. I need to go check the common room, but before I do, I ask Daphne and Tracey if they've seen it, just in case.
As I make my way to the common room in just my towel, I'm shaking because of how cold I am and how scared I am that I lost my necklace. The sentimental value the necklace holds is immense, it isn't just any other necklace it's the only thing I have left of them, I can't lose it, I already lost them.
This is so fucking stupid, please don't let there be anyone in the common room, I silently pray as I try to clear my head of the negative thoughts going through my head.
As I walk in, the common room is dark and the only thing lighting it is the moonlight coming in from a skylight in the ceiling. The room looks bigger than before, probably because there aren't as many people crowding it.
I don't see anyone, so I left out a sigh of relief, a breathe I hadn't even realized that I'd been holding in. I slowly start to walkover to where I had been standing earlier as I see something glistening in the moonlight on the floor right by where I was standing with Adrian by the couch.
All of a sudden a head pops out from behind the couch as someone had been crouched on the floor to retrieve what I hope is my necklace. As they stand up, I stand dead in my tracks as I recognize the floppy blonde hair.
