It's been a week since I agreed to go to Hogwarts. It's been a hectic week to say the least.
Katherine and I managed to enroll me into the school and coordinate with someone called Professor McGonagall, as to how I can get my school things and well, how I can get to the school itself. She says, we'll figure out what house I'm going to be in when I get there, I'm not sure what she meant but I went along with it.
Saying goodbye to Katherine was even harder than I thought it was going to be. Usually when I leave for Beauxbatons, it's simple; we hug and kiss goodbye. This time? Oh there were tears and lots of them, all from Katherine though. She kept hugging me and kissing me, reminding me to send her letters at least once a week, updating her on my life at Hogwarts and to let her know I'm good and safe.
Here I am, in King's Cross train station. I am supposed to meet Hagrid here so he can take me to platform 9 3/4, so that I can successfully board the train and be on my way to start my life at Hogwarts.
I met Hagrid 5 days ago. After communicating with Professor McGonagall about preparation for the school year, she had Hagrid come out to meet me, explain things more clearly to me (how I was going to transition into Hogwarts), and just help me buy the things I need for the year from Diagon Alley, the market for all things witches, wizards, and magic.
If you're wondering and didn't know: yes, the general stereotype fits. Witches and Wizards do have brooms to fly on, wands, and sometimes wear the pointed hats. I already had everything I needed except for textbooks for my classes this year so that's what I got with Hagrid. Also, each student is allowed to bring a pet of their own so I'm bringing angel that is Serena with me
"Y/N!"
A familiar deep voice booms in the train station. I turn to face the tall, dark haired and bearded man walking over to me. A smile creeps onto my face as Hagrid walks over with his arms wide open.
I grew up going to an all girls school, so no male students, teachers, or workers. Seeing that the first person I met from Hogwarts is a man was definitely awkward at first because I didn't know what to do at first. I was taught to be all ladylike and shit, curtsying and bowing to my superiors but Hagrid was different.
Hagrid and I hit it off right away, he gave me a hug, which honestly I wasn't too fond of because I've never really liked affectionate touches if that makes sense, but I didn't push him away. He'd make jokes all the time, mostly playful jokes about people but only people he knew of course. In his case though that was nearly everyone we ran into at Diagon Alley. My guy was high-fiving and greeting nearly everyone we passed which was sweet. In the 8 hours I spent with Hagrid, I laughed more than I ever had in all my years at Beauxbatons. I genuinely missed the feeling of pure laughter and joy, something I didn't get to experience a lot.
"How are you? Excited to go to Hogwarts and actually start living the life that you're supposed to?" he asks as we each pull away from the hug.
"Yeah I guess. More so nervous though. I'm coming in as the new girl in year 5 which should be interesting," I say as we start walking to the platforms.
"True, but it's not your fault or your aunt's really, I get why she had you go to Beauxbatons but if I had known how she felt, believe me I would've made it easier on you both. Shame really, you would have loved growing up at Hogwarts," he says as he pushes the trolley with my belongings on it.
"Yeah I guess so, well I'm just glad I'm finally escaping that hellhole of a school. I couldn't do much there so at least at Hogwarts I'll be more free to be my own person without having people rip into me about being more of a lady and dumb shit like that."
"I'm glad you are too, yeah well I reckon you'll like Hogwarts. There's a bunch of different types of people you'll meet and make friends with, plus there'll be boys so less drama eh?"
"Yeah I'd hope so," I say laughing and shaking my head.
"Alright, remember what I said last time we were together? You're going to ride with Hermione Granger until you get to the school. She'll catch you up on everything, she's a witty and nice girl."
Smart know it alls are not exactly my kind of friends so not sure how this is going to go. I'm honestly more nervous than I'm letting on but I just take a deep breathe trying to relax.
"Righttt ok yeah let's just do this," I mutter under my breathe.
