it was around eight in the evening when soonyoung came around to arriving at jihoon's apartment with a small backpack and a mischievous look on his face. just staring at the brunette gave jihoon very bad vibes about their date.

it wasn't that jihoon thought the date would go terribly wrong or anything because that thought totally didn't cross his mind at all. it just seemed like the destination of the date involved trouble because that's exactly what was written all over soonyoung's face: trouble.

regardless of the bad vibes radiating from soonyoung, jihoon let the brunette into his apartment. the taller male seemed to make himself at home, settling in on the couch like he usually did while jihoon packed up his own bag of belongings. he had managed to find a wetshirt (or rash guard depending on what you call it) and was currently wearing it along with a pair of shorts.

in his bag jihoon packed an extra set of clothing just like soonyoung had requested. after double-checking that he had everything he needed, like his keys and a portable charger for his phone, he met soonyoung in the living room and the two were on their way.

because it was already night, a strong breeze brushed past the two as they made their way down the street with their hands interlocked with one another. jihoon had gotten used to the way his hand fit in soonyoung's so there was no light blush creeping up on his face this time. instead he had a small smile on his face that reeked of warmth for soonyoung.

jihoon was surprised that the brunette beside him didn't really make any attempts at small conversation, but glancing over at soonyoung made it quite obvious why he was so quiet. soonyoung sported a wide smirk on his face as he swung his opposite arm back and forth. jihoon squinted to check out what soonyoung was carrying in his other hand and sighed when he realized what it was. "soonyoung I'd really like to know where we're going and why you're carrying around a bolt cutter..."

"just somewhere." soonyoung answered immediately, grinning to himself because of the very curious look on his date's face. unlike their previous dates, soonyoung wanted this date to be much more adventurous. he almost laughed to himself just thinking about how surprised jihoon would be when they arrived at their final location. "and I only have the bolt cutter for the aesthetics, don't worry too much about it."

jihoon scoffed at soonyoung's comment before feeling his brain swell up with multiple ideas to where they were going. the swimwear could only mean that they were going somewhere with water right? it was way too late to go to a waterpark, were they going to the beach? but if they were going to the beach, why the hell did soonyoung bring bolt cutters? also where the heck did he even get them?

"you know I'm starting to regret agreeing to this third date, there's too much walking involved." jihoon complained to fill the silence between both him and soonyoung, which made the older male snicker. "shut up jihoon, we're almost there you lazy bum."

"that's no way to speak to your boyfriend." jihoon muttered. he looked at their surroundings which weren't too familiar to him. he didn't really go out much, let alone stroll through their neighborhood, so he didn't really know where they were.

"you're not my boyfriend jihoonie." soonyoung pointed out as they climbed a set of stairs. jihoon frowned at how many stairs there were; next time he was going to make sure soonyoung chose somewhere that wasn't to far to have a date at.

"I thought we went over this; you have to give me time to come up with some cool romantic proposal where I ask you to be mine, then we'll be boyfriends." jihoon groaned in response to soonyoung's explanation.

a part of jihoon was disappointed by how soonyoung failed to ask him to be his boyfriend. another part of jihoon embraced the slow pace of their growing relationship; it felt nice not having to rush into things, but the slow pace seemed to be frustrating at times. "and I thought I told you that I'd strangle you to death if you pulled some cringy romantic crap."

"that's very kinky jihoon, but I'm not a fan of the whole choking idea." soonyoung laughed at his own joke. he noticed that jihoon stayed quiet and even though the dim city streetlights weren't bright enough to showcase jihoon's face, soonyoung predicted that the silence was because jihoon was flustered by his comment. "plus the whole point in the romantic crap is to get a reaction out of you. you look adorable when you're out for blood and are ready to kick my ass."

"I'm not adorable, we established that before soonyoung." jihoon grumbled, trying to get back behind his cold front to hide how he was caught off-guard by his date's comment. "no you established that. I still think you're the cutest regardless."

"whatever." jihoon mumbled. their conversation ended after that and was followed by a brief period of silence before soonyoung stopped.

jihoon looked up when he felt soonyoung pause next to him and was met with the sight of a metal fence. behind the fence jihoon could moonlight reflecting off of the water surface of a rather large pool. he watched as the brunette let go of his hand to walk up to the fence with the bolt cutters still in hand, ready to put them to good use.

and when jihoon glanced over to read the sign to his right, he had finally figured out what soonyoung was up to. the dang fool wanted to break into the closed community pool. "oh hell no, I'm not going down for this shit soonyoung."
