soonyoung quietly observed jihoon as the shorter male packed up his things into his bag before they briefly made eye contact. the brunette could tell that jihoon was hiding something, it was even more evident that he was because the latter gave soonyoung a small kiss on the cheek as they walked to their lockers before he ran off to leave the school, muttering some excuse about having to walk a dog he didn't have.
that excuse was almost as bad as the time soonyoung held up his calculator to his face and pretended it was his mother calling him just so he could get out of third wheeling mingyu and wonwoo. speaking of mingyu, soonyoung squinted off into the distance to see the tall puppy-like student smiling at jihoon before the pair walked off. sadly before he could chase them down and interrogate them for their sudden chains of friendship, wonwoo tugged soonyoung's arm to stop him in place.
"where are they going?" soonyoung asked curiously. it wasn't the first time he'd seen mingyu and jihoon walk off out of school together. when questioned about it a few days ago, jihoon claimed that it was because they had a special project to work on but soonyoung still had his suspicions. wonwoo knew very well what was going on with the pair, since he was there when jihoon asked for cooking lessons, and he made a pact with the two (well jihoon threatened him) to not let soonyoung know anything.
"I bet they're going off to confess their love for one another before running away so we don't kill them." the thin student smiled cockily, acting as weird and well-spoken as he usually was. it helped a lot that wonwoo was an amazing actor, minus his fear of actually being on stage, so the puzzled brunette beside him suspected nothing so far. "wonwoo, why are you the way you are?"
"I mean it most likely has to do with genetics and the way I was raised, my childhood was actual crap." wonwoo shrugged while answering soonyoung's question. the latter male sighed at wonwoo, very disappointed to have his initial question brushed off by the black haired male. it wasn't long before the thought of jihoon being mingyu consumed the brunette's mind though and he brought back the subject despite wonwoo's efforts to distract him from the pair. "seriously though, where are they going? they've been spending a lot of time together lately."
"hm I'm not sure. you don't have to worry, you know the only ass mingyu wants is mine." wonwoo winked. he frowned shortly after when he noticed that soonyoung hadn't even spared him a glance, instead he kept his eyes focused on the spot where he saw mingyu and jihoon run off to before making wonwoo sourly pout at him with his response. "right, except your ass isn't really that much of an ass."
"hey do you want to hang out at my place then?" soonyoung turned to face wonwoo. he figured what his best friend was saying was valid, but the very terrified look the black haired male had on his face only confirmed that something was going on. soonyoung knew he was right; the chances that mingyu and jihoon would hang out without an alternative motive that involved either him or wonwoo were slim to none. there really was something going on and soonyoung was going to get the bottom of it!
except he wasn't supposed to and the way wonwoo brushed back his hair in a nervous manner truly expressed that. wonwoo was supposed to distract soonyoung from getting home so that jihoon and mingyu had time to carry out their part of the operation. from the way things were heading, the black haired male was sure that in a matter of minutes his best friend would have them all figured out and both jihoon and mingyu would be on his ass for letting that happen (wonwoo didn't mind mingyu on his ass, but meddling with a pissed off jihoon was like asking for death).
luckily for wonwoo, a familiar face who could help him was just passing by them. the nervous student pulled jun by his hand right next to him, startling the chinese male greatly. jun looked very confused with what wonwoo was trying to do, he was just trying to get home so he could devour the batch of cookies both him and his mother worked on baking the previous night. "no! I mean yes but not at yours I hate your house, let's go to jun's house yes!"
"huh what the fuck are you playing at here wonwoo- oh yeah let's go to my house guys!" jun was annoyed with wonwoo's interruption at first but a sharp elbow jab from the younger male made him gasp before widely grinning at soonyoung (this totally didn't make him look sus). wonwoo shared the same gleeful expression on his face as jun did and the two friends, with their arms slung over each other's shoulder, blinked twice at a very confused soonyoung.
"you guys are acting oddly strange for a pair of idiots." soonyoung did a double take at the two smiling students in front of him. he rubbed his chin casually, trying to formulate some type of reason for why wonwoo and jun were being so suspicious. it obviously had something to do with mingyu and jihoon, and then there was the fact that they didn't want him to go home yet. "we're not acting weird! this is how we normally are!"
"right..." soonyoung sighed before being led away to jun's house. both of his friends quickly changed the subject while they walked to jun's house to avoid the brunette from questioning them any further because they knew they'd probably spoil his surprise if they said anything else. however, it seemed like the gears in soonyoung's head were finally turning as he pondered about what jihoon had in plan for him while the two fools next to him played as decoys.
