The One With Lots Of Tension.
(This is real long I'm sorry)

If you weren't aware, Gryffindor and Slytherin were rival houses. Nobody could tell you the exact reason why, but the house of the lion and the house of the serpent felt as if everything was a competition between them. The rivalry has been going on for centuries and nobody was planning on calling a truce anytime soon.

So when it came to quidditch, the biggest competition of all, Gryffindor and Slytherin students were ruthless towards each other. The bad mouthing and insults would start to get worse a week before a match, and the morning of? You could see first years having their ears covered by older students as foul language flew across the hall.

You would think the teachers would intervene, but they seemed to find it amusing. Kayla did too, and she would throw out the occasional insult while she ate her breakfast.

"Let's go get good seats," Benjamin announced to his three friends. "Here Claire, I can carry your jumper for you. It's a bit warm outside-"

Kayla stood and pulled Jade up before the latter could blurt out Benjamin's secret. The four Slytherins left the hall before many of the students had finished their breakfast; they were definitely going to get good seats now.

They were about to leave the building when Kayla heard someone call her name. She turned and groaned when she noticed Fred, George and Lee coming towards her.

"Good morning Kayla," George grinned.

"It's Malfoy," Kayla spat, crossing her arms over her chest. She noticed her friends eyeing the Gryffindors; she hadn't told them about the detention.

"I prefer Kayla," Fred shrugged. "Anyway, we noticed your lack of... school spirit so we wanted to give you a gift."

Fred had placed a Gryffindor scare around Kayla's neck before she could object. She froze as soon as they red and gold material hit the shoulders of her green jumper.

"I don't want your stupid scarf Weasley," Kayla exclaimed. She ripped it away from her throat and tossed it back to him. He caught it with ease and Kayla frowned; she had hoped he'd drop it.

"But we insist, Kay," Lee pressed and Kayla scrunched up her nose at the nickname. "It's a token of gratitude. A thank you, if you will."

"And why would Kayla need a 'thank you' for you three gits?" Jade piped up. Her voice was laced with annoyance and irritation. Kayla prayed the conversation would end quickly.

"Because," George dragged out. He slapped Fred on the shoulder. "She saved my brother."

"Freddie was injured, a blink from death," Lee exclaimed, pushing Fred's hand towards the Slytherins, displaying the still visible words. "Bleeding heavily. But Kayla, the hero she is, put aside the Gryffindor-Slytherin hatred and saved his pretty ginger neck."

"And then," Kayla growled. "I told you to leave me alone." She dragged her friends out of the school before the Gryffindors could respond. She let out a sigh of relief when she saw they hadn't followed her.

"What was that?" Jade spat at Kayla.

Kayla groaned into her hands. "I had detention with Weasley. He was bleeding afterwards, so was I. So I just healed his hand."

"You should've let him bleed out," Jade muttered darkly.

"I think it's nice Kayla helped him," Claire said clearly and Kayla whipped her head around to stare at her. Claire didn't usually disagree with Jade.

Jade obviously didn't expect this either as she didn't respond for a few seconds. "They're blood traitors, Claire. They're a disgrace to wizard kind!"
