The One With The Forbidden Acquaintances.
On a Saturday in early November, Kayla settled herself down in the library alone to get in some study time. She may be a highly respected Malfoy, but that didn't mean she could skive off her schoolwork.
She had invited her friends, but since Claire thought Jade would be there and vice versa, neither had turned up. The two hadn't made up after their little argument that took place over two weeks ago now. Benjamin's feelings for Claire meant her always took her side, and Kayla was almost happy they would be spending more time alone together. She knew Claire would realise she liked Benjamin back eventually.
With her dream of being a Magizooologist still as bright as ever, Kayla focused heavily on Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures. She was immediately transfixed, since animals were the one thing that truly interested her.
"I need your help," came a voice that made Kayla jump harshly. She was extremely confused when Lee Jordan slid into the seat next to her.
"What do you want?" Kayla asked him, keeping her eyes on her book, displaying the little amount of interest she had for the Gryffindor.
"Your help," Lee said, leaning towards her as if he was about to reveal a secret mission. "Ever since Fred and George got banned from quidditch, they've been such negative Nancy's. I think they're depressed."
Kayla raised an eyebrow. "They got banned from quidditch?"
Lee hummed. "For what happened with Malfoy, even though Fred didn't even touch the git," he explained, but gave a sorry look when Kayla glared at him. "Sorry I meant what happened with your lovely brother Draco Malfoy who-"
"You're not doing a very good job at convincing me to help you."
"Ok, ok, let me try again," Lee rushed, holding his hands out to stop Kayla if she tried to leave. "I thought, since you are now one of our best friends, you could help me cheer them up."
"Let me stop you there," Kayla said, holding her finger up. "We're not friends. All they do is give me dirty looks nowadays."
"Because they're sad," Lee stressed. "They're feeling emotions, which I fear will cause them to explode."
Kayla didn't respond so Lee continued. "I want you to help me with a prank. Just a small one."
Kayla snorted. "Your pranks are usually on unsuspecting Slytherins. Do you really think I'd prank someone in my own house?"
"You wouldn't? We prank Gryffindors too," Lee explained. "Anyhow, we're not pranking a Slytherin. We're pranking the twins."
"How is that going to cheer them up?" Kayla asked with a droning voice. "I don't think I'd be very happy if I got pranked."
"That's why it's a small one," Lee mused before turning in his seat and nodding at the door. "Any minute now, the twins will come into the library for something top secret I cannot tell you about."
That obviously sparked Kayla's curiosity, but Lee continued talking before she could pry an answer from him. "They usually go into the real back corner. We're gonna sneak up on them and throw this." He pulled a packet of black powder from his pocket.
"What's that?" Kayla asked, trying to hide how interested she actually was.
"Instant Darkness powder. It creates darkness," Lee said the second sentence too slowly for Kayla's liking, so she shoved his shoulder harshly. "I'm just making sure you understand. Anyway, then we'll mess with them. Since they won't be able to see."
