It's Christmas morning.
The house is quiet today as I slowly go down the stairs. I don't plan to have a morning like the one I had a few weeks ago where my friends happen to crash my mess. There's no one that will crash my house today.
Xander is the first one to call me as I make myself some coffee. I respond and say, "Good morning, sunshine."
"Good morning! Can I facetime you?"
"Right now?"
"Yeah."
"Sure." After I finish saying this, a vibration brings me to look back at my phone and accept his video. A handsome boy with bright blue eyes appears on the screen. He's laying down on the floor with a little girl. I giggle at them as I observe their matching onesies.
"Merry Christmas, Luna!" Xander and his little sister say in unison.
I laugh at this and wave at the camera. "Hi! Oh my goodness! You look so beautiful!" When I say this, the little girl blushes and giggles.
"What do you think of me?" Xander says with a smirk.
I chuckle at this as I take a sip of my coffee. "I think you look well."
"Just well?" His eyes shining with tease.
"Yes. She looks much better in those reindeer onsies honestly."
"Told you!" the little girl says to Xander and he runs a playful hand through her blonde hair. "Hey!" Then there's a ruckus as she seems to have taken the phone from him. Her laughter mixes with the Christmas music going on in their house and the sound of their father's voice.
I watch as the little girl ends up in her room and brings the camera really close to her face. "Luna?"
"Yes, ma'am?" I tenderly say.
"Are you gonna come today to play?"
"Yeah, Luna!" Xander says this time as he puts his face next to hers. "Are you gonna come and play?"
I laugh at his teasing tone and say, "I don't know, kiddo! I have so much stuff to do today!"
"Aww," she says with a frown. "Why will you be busy?" This time the camera is all the way up to her nose and tiny mouth.
"I wish I could tell you why, kiddo, but that seems to be my problem."
"Mmkay. What did you get for Christmas?"
"Um..." I look around to see what I can use to lie. Just then, I find some old glasses I used a few years ago. I put these glasses in front of the camera with a smile and say, "I got these really cool glasses!"
"Wow!" I quietly giggle at how oblivious little kids can be as her blue eyes shine with delight.
Xander comes over to the camera and shrugs. "They look pretty basic to me."
"Hey!" I playfully say. "You wish you had these glasses. Sometimes your vision fails if you ask me." Xander laughs loudly remembering the way I bothered him for not noticing my grown out hair now. It has a darker blonde color to it and the first thing he said when I asked him, was new shoes. I wish that was true...
A faint sound of a woman calling in the distance makes the little girl jump and drop the phone. Xander picks it up quickly and I smile at him as I take a seat on the table. "You look beautiful in those glasses if you ask me."
I chuckle at his joke and say, "I think you look great in those onesies. Very hot."
Xander chuckles at this, but I know he only does it to hide his blush. "Going on to a more serious subject...um...so you can't come today?"
