"Yo. I just got off the phone with Nate."
I sit by Belle on the couch as she still looks for a movie to watch. She raises her brows when I say this to show that she's listening. I roll my eyes at her and take the control from her hand. "Dude. Seriously? It's been an hour already and you're still looking for a movie. Let me see."
"Okay. But no scary movies please!"
I chuckle at this and move her hands away from me. "Okay, dude. Relax. I don't want you peeing my bed when we get to sleep."
We share a laugh and we fall silent as the movie starts. Only a few minutes through the movie, Belle turns to look at me and smiles. "So what did Nate say to you?"
I look at her and smile at her gentle brown eyes. "He just confirmed our date for Valentine's Day. He said he reserved a very special treat for me."
My heart jumps only at the thought of that night and what he has for me. He's been very different lately. Not something I would complain about. Nate keeps giving me flowers and things that only make me blush. I could say that we are officially another level up in our relationship.
Belle has her eyes wide in surprise at this. She smiles widely and scoffs. "Wow. Won't you look at you? It must be special if he had to reserve two weeks before the night."
"I know! You have to help me get ready on that night!"
"You know it!" We do a small jump of excitement and look back at the movie. I don't understand anything, but my mind keeps running towards Nate. How did I get so lucky?
Yet, deep down, I'm afraid.
Good things don't happen to a girl like me. At least not for long. Losing my father was enough to make me understand this. I can't bare another lose. Not with Nate. So I pray to the god that Belle prays to every night. I beg him to not take this person away from me. Not him....
With Nate, I finally feel complete....
"Hey. Where's the rest of the people that live here? I swear. I feel like every time I come, it's only you."
I laugh when Belle says this. "And that is why I take on the advantage of people I love the most here...." Belle raises an eyebrow at me and I giggle. "No. Not like that, Belle. Why do you think I invited you this evening? Geez. Get your head out of the gutter for once." Belle playfully slaps my arm when she sees my smirk. "Okay. Okay. Skyler is with Ty, and AJ....You know, I honestly don't know where AJ is. He's probably working late tonight."
"He still works in the antique store?" Belle says as she takes a popcorn from our large bowl.
I nod at this and say, "Yeah. But he told me he got another job at this other place."
"You didn't ask him where?" Belle furrows her brows when she sees me shake my head. "What if he's in danger and you didn't know?"
I roll my eyes at this and chuckle. "If there's anybody who doesn't have the guts to get into something, it's AJ. He may seem all tough and everything, but deep down, he's a teddy bear."
"Well. I know that," Belle says. "And it's teddy bears that are so easily to convince..."
I smirk at Belle as I think of something to bother her on. "If you want, you can ask him..... He'd be glad to have you as a stalker."
"Ew! Kristen!" I laugh loudly at this and Belle shakes her head with a smile. "We agreed to not bring up that kind of subject...."
"Oh yes. I'm sorry, ma'am," I teasingly say. She knows I'm trying to copy Max's voice and she rolls her eyes at me. I clear my throat as I set aside my tease and let curiosity step in. "So? Max. Do you guys have anything planned for Valentine's Day?"
