*Castiel's POV*
I appeared to Dean and his daughter. Yes, I know of her and her special abilities. She's been chosen by God. She's been given the gifts of discerning spirits- meaning she can see angels and demons. I'm not sure how much of that she knows or Dean. She's also been given the gift of seeing hidden angels and demons, and that's a valuable gift for anyone who can get their hands on her.
"Really, dude? Really? Where have you been?" Dean said loudly, upon seeing me. His daughter hid behind him, clinging to his leg. He looked down at her and placed his hand on her back.
I don't think she knows me, but I'm going to try and tell her that I'm Jimmy Novak- seeing as how he was my vessel. I peered around Dean's back. His daughter moved further. She was shaking in fear. Am I really that intimidating?
"Stop scaring my daughter." Dean commanded, moving to shield her protectively. A paternal instinct of sorts. "I need to tell you something, Dean." I informed.
"Well you should at least introduce yourself to Joanna." Dean said, trying to ease his daughter to come forward. Joanna. A beautiful name for an extraordinary girl.
"I'm Jimmy Novak." I lied. "No you're not. You're an angel." She said, not believing me. She furrowed her eyebrows and kept close to Dean. "You're right, Joanna. But I do have something to tell the both of you. Well it's more for your father."I admitted." She's smart. Maybe too smart, for what, a five-year-old.
"Well. Spit it out, Cas." Dean demanded, gripping his daughter's shoulders protectively. "Crowley's looking for her. He's not exactly sure what abilities she possesses. I've been observing everything under the radar. She's in danger, Dean. Keep her close. " I warned, not trying to alarm Joanna as much as I already did.
"You mean it's not safe for me? Is my mommy safe? I don't understand. Daddy, you're going to protect us, right?" She said to Dean, looking into his eyes. It was a beautiful sight, really. She loves her dad, even though she's only known him for a short period of time.
"Yes I will, baby girl." Dean said, holding his daughter tightly. I could tell she was at ease in his presence. He's really grown on her. I know no one has ever believed in Dean more than her. Not even me.
"Cas. What can I do to protect her?" He asked, searching for advice. "My best guess is to stay close, never leave their presence. Be ready for anything, really." I advised.
I read his expression. I know good and well he'd do anything for his daughter, especially when her safety is in question. That's real love. Something I've never experienced. I wouldn't understand.
"Well, you have to go. Cas, I don't want you to expose yourself to Anna. She doesn't like what we do. She doesn't understand this yet." Dean explained. Before I could fly away, Joanna tugged at my trench coat.
"I can see your true form Castiel. You're beautiful. I see you for who you are. I know you want to help us. I just don't know how you can do that. I may not know you that well, but I know you'll be watching over us. You're my daddy's guardian angel whether you believe this or not." She explained. For a five-year-old, she's very wise. She's very eloquent. I smiled at her compassionately.
She was so small, so fragile, yet she was more powerful than she could probably comprehend. I really do pray she doesn't slip out of Dean's grasp. "Thank you, Joanna. I have to go now. You be good and listen to your father." I advised. With that I took off.
