A big mess

A week later

Everyone was home, settled again and Georgie was starting to feel a bit better although she still felt absolutely stupid for making such a mistake.
It was welcome home party day, some family were coming round and Georgie was going to tell everyone their little girls name.
Everyone was sitting round having a bbq when Charlie knocked on the door Georgie walked over still a little bit sore and opened the door to Charlie "Charlie!" She said he smiled and held out his arms and hugged her "I've worked my magic. You can come back, in 6 months, after maternity leave and when you can prove you're up to army standards again" he said she smiled and hugged him "thank you!" She cried he smiled and held her close "anything for the best medic the British army has" he smiled she smiled "come in, there's plenty of food" she smiled "no I've got Sam in the car" he said Georgie smiled "bring him in say hello" she smiled he nodded and smiled and got him out of the car and they walked into the garden. "I can go back in 6 months" Georgie smiled looking at Elvis he smiled and hugged her then shaking Charlie's hand "thank you mate" he said Charlie smiled "automatically happier" Elvis smiled looking at Georgie she nodded and smiled "it's good to see you smile again" he said "it's good to be smiling again" she smiled. "Come on Georgie we want to know her name!" Lulu shouted everyone smiled and Georgie looked at everyone "Thea, her names Thea" she said smiling picking up her little girl "mummy's little Thea" she smiled everyone smiled and Elvis kissed Georgie's cheek "that's beautiful Georgie" grace smiled hugging her "thanks mum" she smiled "it was actually what Elvis suggested" she smiled looking at him holding her daughter "I did make the right choice" she said Grace kissed her head and nodded "you did" she smiled. Everyone carried on talking and laughing when Georgie was in the kitchen making a bottle for her baby. She wasn't getting on too well breast feeding so they decided to just use bottles. "Hey Marie are you alright?" She smiled as she walked in "yeah, my back hurts I think I'm going to go for a lay down" she said "if you don't mind" she added Georgie walked over to her and wrapped her arms around her sister holding her up "you've been uncomfortable all day" she said Marie just looked at her "it's too early Georgie" she said tears in her eyes "and fingers doesn't get home until tomorrow" she cried "come on, why don't we go and sit down" she said walking to the sofa with Marie in her arms, they sat down and Georgie held her hands "I will be there, mum will be there, I promise it's going to be okay" she said "it hurts Georgie" she said "I know, I know it does, and I'm not going to lie to you Marie it only gets worse but I promise it will all be worth it" she said Marie nodded and Georgie held her hands "will you let me take you to the hospital?" She asked Marie shook her head "I don't want to ruin today" she said "you aren't ruining it, you're making it 10 times better" she smiled "I just want you Georgie" she said "what?" She asked "I just want you to take me, I don't want mum or dad or Lu, please Georgie I don't want a fuss" she said Georgie nodded "if that's what you want" she smiled "but i have got to tell mum" she said Marie nodded "let me go and tell them and then I'll take you" she said Marie nodded "thank you Georgie" she said Georgie smiled "anything for you" she smiled walking outside. Georgie walked over to grace and she smiled "Marie's in labour" she said so she could only hear "what?" She asked "she just wants me to take to the hospital she doesn't want people to know and she doesn't want anyone else to come" she said "She wants me to stay here?" She asked Georgie nodded "alright sweetheart, ring me won't you?" She asked Georgie nodded kissing her cheek "of course" she smiled. "I'm going to get Elvis to drive us, will you look after Thea?" She asked Grace nodded "I can drive you" she said "mum, I'll ring you if she needs you" she smiled Grace nodded and Georgie walked over to Elvis "mum is going to look after Thea I need to borrow you for half an hour" she said "why? What's happened?" He asked passing the baby to Grace "come on" she said walking into the house with him "Marie's in labour I need you to take us to the hospital" she said "Is she alright?" He asked she nodded "she's tough" she smiled "I'm not allowed to drive for another week that's why I need you to run us there quickly" she said he nodded "alright" he smiled "come on Marie" Georgie smiled poking her head around the door to Marie sitting on the stairs in considerable pain "Georgie" she cried holding the hand rail. Georgie sat down next to her carefully still sore from having Thea. "When we get you to the hospital we can get you some pain relief" she said Marie nodded and Elvis helped Georgie and Marie up they got her in the car and drove to the hospital. "Georgie, Georgie this baby isn't going to wait" she cried "yes it is first babies take ages to come" she said "Georgie I need to push" she cried "alright Marie 10 more minutes hang on" she said "georgie no" she cried "get these off then" she said "good job were in my car and not his ah" Georgie smiled Marie just lied her head back panting "alright Marie let me just put this towel over your legs" she said "ah" she cried "okay, I can see baby's head" Georgie said panic in her voice "don't you know how to do this?" Marie asked "we don't learn how to deliver babies Marie" she smiled "go on just do what your body tells you, Elvis just keep driving" Georgie said Marie pushed with everything she had in her "okay Marie I've got baby's head" she smiled Marie pushed again and her baby was born "you've got a little girl Marie" she smiled "you've got a little girl" she repeated wrapping her in the other towel and passing her to Marie. "Thank you Georgie" Marie cried with happiness Georgie smiled "I did nothing" she smiled Marie smiled holding her baby "congratulations Marie!" Elvis smiled she smiled "they're going to grow up like us" smiled Marie "hows that?" Georgie asked her hand still on Marie's knee "best of friends" she smiled Georgie smiled and looked out of the window as they pulled up at the hospital "here we are, we can get you seen to and home again" she smiled Marie nodded "I'll go and get some help you two stay here" Elvis said Georgie nodded and Marie was just smiling looking at her baby "Have you got a name?" She asked "maybe" Marie smiled Georgie smiled and held her hand as they waited for some help. A doctor and a midwife came out and got Marie onto a stretcher and took them inside "come on let's go and get you cleaned up" Elvis smiled looking at Georgie she nodded and got out of the car. They walked into the disabled bathroom and Georgie faced Elvis "I'm bleeding" she said lifting up her top revealing her scar which she was still supposed to be resting. "How did you do that?" He asked "I don't know, I didn't even feel it, bloody hurts now though" she said "let's go and get you sorted and then we can go and see Marie" he smiled she nodded and he held her hands wiping the blood off of them with a wet paper towel "you just did something incredible you know that" he smiled she smiled "i didn't do anything" she said "you reassured her which was the most important thing that you could have done" he said she smiled "she did amazingly, she made it look so easy" she said "you didn't have it easy Georgie remember that, you had everything possible go wrong" he said she nodded "but it doesn't matter now, because we have a beautiful baby girl and Marie has a beautiful baby girl and all 4 of us are healthy and alive" she smiled he kissed her head "let's get you sorted" he smiled she smiled and they walked to the desk "hi, my partner shes torn her c section scar, only a little bit I think it just needs another stitch" he said looking over at Georgie sitting on the chair "we will get a doctor to see her as soon as we can" she said he nodded "thank you" he said she smiled as he walked back to Georgie "they're getting you seen as soon as they can" he said she smiled and nodded "are you feeling better now? Happier?" He asked she looked at her hand in his and smiled "I've never not been happy Elvis, I'm so lucky, I have you and Thea" she smiled "I just needed a couple of days to come to terms with being a mum" she said he nodded and smiled kissing her cheek "you're a fantastic mum, Thea is very lucky" he smiled "I'm very lucky" she said resting her head on his shoulder. 25 minutes later they called Georgie through and put another stitch in her stomach "how did you manage this?" He asked "I just delivered my sisters baby in my car, a week after giving birth myself" she smiled "Marie Lane?" He asked she nodded "is she alright?" Georgie asked he nodded "they're sending her and baby home later today" he smiled Georgie smiled "that's great news" she smiled he nodded "rest alright Georgie, get some rest and it will heal" he said she nodded "thank you" she smiled "please. Just for 3-4 weeks, don't lift anything heavier than baby and be kind to yourself, little walks and try to keep it dry" he said she nodded "thank you" she said walking out with Elvis. They went to see Marie to see how she was getting on "hey Marie" Georgie smiled walking around the door her hand on her stomach "are you alright? You've been ages" Marie said "I tore my scar a bit I had to have another stitch and some painkillers, are you and baby okay? The doctor said you're going home today" she said Marie nodded and smiled "everything's perfect" she smiled Georgie smiled and nodded. The nurse walked in an hour later and smiled "you can go home now, you've been in for a couple of hours and everything seems normal" she smiled Marie smiled and so did Georgie "you make sure you get rest, and you Georgie I've heard what you've been through" she said Georgie nodded "just spend 2 weeks on the sofa that's all I'm asking, your recovery is going to be longer than Marie's" she said Georgie nodded "I'll make sure she does" Elvis smiled the nurse nodded "I've signed your discharge papers so you're free to leave whenever" she smiled walking out. Marie got up and picked her baby up and Georgie smiled "you're going to be an amazing mum Marie" she smiled Marie smiled "just like you" she said Elvis put his hands on Georgie's shoulders and smiled "just like you" he repeated she looked at him and smiled "I'm getting there" she smiled he nodded and smiled kissing her head. "Have you spoken to fingers?" Georgie asked Marie nodded "he'll be home tomorrow" she said Georgie nodded "his actual words were, Georgie saves the day again" she smiled Georgie smiled "I did nothing" she smiled Marie just looked at her and shook her head smiling. "Come on then, let's get you three home" Elvis said "I better ring mum, tell her what's going on" Georgie said Marie nodded "you get them in the car I'll meet you there" Georgie said walking out Elvis nodded and helped Marie out to the car.
"How is she Georgie?" Her mum said when she picked up the phone "she's alright mum, she's got a little girl" Georgie said "she's had it?" She asked "yeah she has" Georgie said "are you alright you sound drained" she said Georgie nodded "yeah I'm fine" she said rubbing her head "we're leaving now anyway" she said "we won't be long" Georgie said her mum nodded "alright love, see you later" she said Georgie nodded and shut off the phone walking outside slowly. "Are you alright babe?" Elvis said standing at the car door she nodded "just sore" she smiled Elvis kissed her head "let's get you home and get you some pain killers" he smiled she nodded getting in the car slowly. Elvis got in and they drove home. "So Marie a name?" Georgie smiled "I'll tell you when I get home" she smiled Georgie smiled and nodded. Elvis put his hand on Georgie's thigh and smiled she smiled back at him and then looked out of the window.
They got home and everyone had gone. Marie got greeted by her mum, dad and sister Lu at the door.
Once everyone had settled down and were sitting in the living room on the sofa, Thea was in bed and Marie was holding her baby. "So her name" Marie smiled standing up "i was going to wait for fingers but I can't" she smiled her mum smiled "we chose it together, not long after I found out I was pregnant, if she was a boy she was going to be called Owen, but we had a special name if she was a girl" she smiled Georgie was almost asleep on Elvis's chest. "Tillie" Marie smiled everyone smiled "that's lovely Marie" Grace said "but it has meaning" she said sitting in the chair "We wanted to name her after Georgie" she said Georgie looked shocked "why?" She asked "because fingers wouldn't be here without you and I wouldn't have been able to any of this without you, and we wanted her to be brave like you" she smiled Georgie's eyes had filled with tears "why Tillie?" Asked Grace "it means battle strength" she said looking at Georgie "we want her to be a fighter, like you Georgie, we want her to have strength like you, to keep fighting no matter how much shit life throws at her" she said Georgie had tears streaming down her face "is that really how you guys view me?" She asked everyone nodded "you are the strongest person we know Georgie" her mum smiled "and she's right, no matter how much shit life throws at you, you always carry on" said her dad she smiled "I try, I really do try" she said wiping her eyes "and you make it look effortless" said a voice walking through the back door. Fingers walked around the door and smiled Marie almost cried. "You're home!" She smiled walking over holding Tillie. Fingers smiled hugging Marie "are you alright babe?" He smiled she nodded in his arms "I am now" she smiled "so this is little Tillie" he smiled she smiled and nodded "do you like the name Georgie?" He asked smiling at her "I love it" she smiled her eyes still filled with tears. Marie sat back down and fingers walked over to Georgie "come here" he smiled holding his arms out she smiled and hugged him "be careful with me" she smiled he kissed her cheek and held her at arms length "oh Georgie what are we going to do with you?" He smiled Georgie shook her head smiling "are you still that sore?" Asked Grace "I had to have another stitch in it today, I tore it whilst I was helping  Marie" she said "why didn't you say Georgie?" Marie asked "I'm fine, it's nothing some painkillers can't fix" she smiled Fingers smiled "thank you Georgie, from the bottom of my heart thank you" he said she smiled "and don't say you were just doing your job. Being a midwife isn't your job" he smiled she smiled "but being a big sister is" she said Elvis smiled and kissed her cheek "so where's little Thea?" He asked "she's in bed, I'm sure she'll make her entrance soon enough" she smiled Fingers smiled "go on, go and meet your baby" she smiled he smiled and walked over to Marie sitting down next to her. She passed Tillie to him and he smiled "hi little soldier" he smiled "you're going to grow up to be just like your auntie Georgie" Marie smiled "not too much like your auntie Georgie though, not sure I want another one of those" Fingers laughed Georgie laughed and smiled looking at them. "They're so happy, and in love" she smiled Elvis smiled and wrapped his arms around Georgie "you don't see yourself Georgie, you are so in love too" smiled Grace she smiled and looked and Elvis nodding "I know I'm so in love" she smiled Elvis smiled and kissed her head holding her close "I love you so much" he whispered she smiled and rested her head on his chest "I love you more" she said holding his hands. Just then the baby monitor went off and Georgie sighed "I'll get her" Elvis smiled kissing her head as he got up. He walked back down with Thea in his arms and Georgie smiled "so this is Thea" Fingers smiled Georgie nodded "this is Thea" she smiled as Elvis sat down on the sofa with her in his arms "are you alright George?" Her mum asked she nodded and smiled looking at her baby "I didn't know it was possible to love someone this much" Georgie smiled Elvis looked at Georgie and smiled "I told you, it only gets better" he smiled she nodded and smiled hugging his arm looking at her baby in his arms.
