I couldn't help myself. Just because it isn't typical of a Secaro man and human man to be together doesn't mean we can't do it. We will probably have to be careful aboard the ship because our jobs are a whole other problem and we have to keep that separate. But as long as we don't do anything on the ship, then I see no harm in having a private relationship.

There is just one problem - I fear that Izander doesn't trust me. It's been over a month since our encounter and we have managed a few stolen moments here and there, a couple of quick pit stops at the ports etc. Each time we get to be alone, he seems distant and reluctant - keeping things to a minimum. Also that instinct you feel, yeah I basically feel mistrust off him.

I don't know why he is being like this, or how he can think I am not to be trusted. Sure, my ancestors did some bad things but we had good reason. It may not be clear to the humans yet but the time will come and they may even thank us. Not one Secaro can put a date to that though so we remain silent.

I was brought up understanding the code we must adhere to. 'Keep human/Secaro contact to a minimum', 'Refrain from any personal bonds or forms of relationships with a human', 'Do not explain Secaro ways or means to Earth' and finally 'Secret's of any Secaro kind (within reason) are to be kept private, and can only be revealed under special circumstances.'

Most of these rules were flexible to an extent - they are more of a guideline for our behaviours. We are a pretty relaxed planet with all things considered, and we understand the implications of bending them. The first two are clearly to keep us from getting close and wanting to spill the beans on the other rules. The third is partly to keep a distance, and also so we don't give anything important away that could cause the human's to revolt or investigate further.

The final rule is the most important and hard to explain. You may notice it doesn't stipulate punishment or specifics - and for good reason. The within reason part is so we understand some secrets can be shared. For example, you may keep news that you are moving jobs quiet so you do not upset or anger someone (mainly humans), however you may choose to share the news with a select few.

The main use of this rule is for the 'big' one. We are a kind planet and believe it or not, we wouldn't begrudge a dying human the truth if they asked it - hence the exception. Most don't apparently ask but on the odd occasion they might, we are to communicate our knowledge via telepathy, and only when they cannot in any way pass on this information.

There are a few other exceptions but you hardly need to know every last one. And if you break these guidelines or bend them? Again, we are a kind planet and there is not a proper punishment, but more of a 'handling of the situation'. We aren't going to just kill humans who find out, so we have alternatives (kind ones I might add).

He is also taking a huge risk seeing me. I will be fine if our relationship is revealed, possibly might just get moved jobs to a flight back home. Izan would be sent back to Earth and his career ruined. As a result of limited contact to humans, it means we don't really know them so to get any job aboard a ship is a great achievement for them - we hardly ever give an unknown a chance. So to have event booted back home would be devastating for him.

Now you may understand why I can't just explain everything and gain his trust. It just doesn't work like that.
