A/N: So sorry this took me so long. I started this on my phone, but I’m finishing on my computer.

April's pov.
As I sat up and stretched early the next morning I could hear voices coming from somewhere else in the house. Curious, I got up, adjusted my clothes, and left the room. I wandered into the kitchen to find April shoveling what looked like a large piece of pie into mouth, and a boy about my age sitting at the table laughing at her.
"Er hello." I said awkwardly walking to fridge.
"morning" summer replied spewing food everywhere, receiving a laugh from the guy. As she swallowed Summer continued on to say something, "April this is our neighbor, Aaron Richards. Michael Richards son."
"like the attorney Michael Richards? The same guy always took my cake on my birthday? Who drew a mustache on his son's face and sent him to school?"I asked curiously.
The guy nodded his dark brown hair flopping into his eyes. "let's not repeat the last incident people still make fun of me for it." he muttered. I giggled along with summer receiving a glare for both of us.
"so he'’s here why? I mean not to sound rude or anything." I asked curiously as I pulled a Gatorade out of the fridge.
"my mom sent me down here with a quiche and there was no way I was going back just yet." he replied, still watching summer shove more quiche into her mouth. "with the way your attacking that thing it's like you haven't been eating!" he exclaimed, standing up. "well I'm gonna leave before any more pre-chewed food lands in my face." and with that he disappeared.
"the jerk it's not that nasty to watch me eat. Is it?" she asked suddenly worried.
"kinda" I replied scratching my head slightly, receiving a growl from her.
"I am your mother I deserve respect!" she said desperately trying to keep a straight face but failing miserably. I giggled, but this time she didn’t growl; just put her plate and told me to get dressed for the day. I obliged and returned to my room.
After a quick shower, I brushed my hair and teeth, and exited the bathroom to get dressed. I dug through my bags trying to find an outfit for the chilly weather. I finally pulled on a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, brown heeled ankle boots, a green flowy top, and a vintage brown leather jacket. Perfect I thought to myself as I applied the last bit of eyeliner and grabbed my phone and camera.
I left my room to find Summer in a vintage green lace dress and brown heels. “We match!” she giggled as she took in my appearance. “very nice.” she appraised as she grabbed her purse and exited the house.
“So your work were heading there now right?” I asked genuinely curious I asked as I looked out the car windows.
“Yeah we are, but they’re in the middle of a shoot right now so I was thinking you might want to help out.” She replied.
“Your kidding! Of course I do that’s like a dream come true!” I freaked jumping up and down in my seat.
“I’m glad. You know for a single dad your father did an excellent job.” Summer said, turning to smile at me.
“Yeah, he did his best you know. He always said I was so complicated, but that he wouldn’t trade me for the world. And I wouldn’t have traded him if I had to.” I said the smile now gone from my face, as a few stray tears slipped down my face. I turned my head to the window so Summer wouldn’t see me while I felt so vulnerable.
“You know it’s okay to cry. I’ll let you in on a little secret, when I was first at boarding school I used to cry myself to sleep thinking about you< Anthony, and even my parents. And I’ve been crying myself to sleep since the day I heard about your father. Me and you are a team now, and whenever you need me you need to know I’ll be here.” Summer said leaning over in her seat to wrap her arms around my shoulders. “I love you April. I do. I regret not being there all those years, but I’m here now, okay.” She whispered kissing the top of my head.
“It wasn’t your fault.” I whispered through my tears. “And I love you too, always have Dad wouldn’t let me think bad things about you. He always loved you, I know he did.” Summer nodded her head, tears pouring down her face.
“Looks like my mask broke, hmm.” she said leaning over to wipe my eyes before giving me another hug. Summer climbed out of the car wiping away her tears and smeared makeup with a kleenex.
“Mom, thanks for that.” I said as I hugged her again as we walked into the building.
you know sometimes it’s those oh so cliche moments that a person needs to get through the day, and sometimes it’s just something simple like being told they’re loved or receiving a hug, and sometimes it’s just being given the title they’ve been aching for. Because I see it now, Summer is and always will be my mom. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
A/N: So Summer and april had that mother daughter moment we’ve all been waiting for. And as you guys may have noticed there is now a lovely book cover up courtesy of, makedamnsure. This is a lot shorter than I initially thought, so sorry.
