"You want me to come and do what?" I ask.
"Come and live with the Jade Vipers," He says.
I look to mom, "aren't you going to say anything? And How long have you known about this?"
She puts down her tea, "I've known for a few years. Elizabeth told me a year or two after she moved out. And I also believe it would be safer for you to go live with the Vipers."
"You have to be kidding. What do you mean it will be safer?"
Jaxon looks at me, "Colton will be getting out of jail because of our grandfather. Not only will you have the Wolves be coming after you but every other gang that is under my grandfather, which is half of the remaining gangs. Since you saw a few of Colton's guys murder a cop, they will be coming after you again."
"So they want me dead?" I ask.
"Not sure but I do think that my grandfather wants the video to go away," Jaxon says.
"But what about school? My friends? What do we tell dad?" I ask.
"You'll be able to go to school. Jaxon has an apartment near your school, so you'll be living with him. You can tell Charlie and Riley that you're moving out, that you want to get a start for college. But don't tell them anything about what's going on," Lizzy says.
"Your father is at a work meeting until later tonight. When he gets home, I'll tell him that you're going to move in with a friend until you find your own place, that you're getting a head start for college," Mom says.
"Why do I have to stay with Jaxon?" I ask.
"I am the best fighter in the Vipers. I was trained since I was five so if anything happens, I'll be able to protect you. Any more questions or complaints?" Jaxon says.
"I wasn't complaining," I whisper, "So, when am I moving?"
"Today and tomorrow since it's a weekend," Jaxon says.
So, we begin to pack my things up in boxes and bags. Today we are moving small things: clothes, bathroom products, and other things.
It was made clear that I'll have my own room but we have to wait till tomorrow to move my bed and dressers into the apartment. If I'll be spending my last night in the home I live in for all of my life, might as well come clean to my mom.
When Jaxon and Lizzy left for the apartment, I figured it was time to tell mom.
"Mom, can I tell you something?" I ask.
"You can always tell me anything. You're my baby and I love you," she says.
"I may be your baby but I don't know how to tell you this. I wanted to keep it to myself for as long as I could but since I am moving out, I figured that I should tell you..."
"Luca," She says, "you're rambling."
I laugh, "well, here goes nothing. Mom, I'm gay."
I hold my breath and wait until she says something. It takes a few minutes before I see her hands grab mine.
"And you were scared to tell me this, why?" She asks.
"You know how dad is. I was just worried that you might have thought the same."
"As I said before, Luca, you're my baby and I love you. It might take a while to get used to this but as long as you're happy, that's all that matters. So, do you have anyone you like yet?" She asks.
My cheeks flush, "I'm not sure just yet but Jaxon is kind of cool."
She laughs, "Luca, just take your time. But please don't do anything until your birthday. I don't want you to regret anything."
