Mr. King grabbed two guns, making sure they were loaded. He hands me a flare gun and a knife and we leave his office.

"Colton has taken control over my men," he says.

"What?"

"Apparently he's been going behind my back and getting members to join his side. Half of my men joined his side, thinking he is the better suited for the leader instead of Jaxon."

"Does Colton know about your plan?" I ask.

Mr. King shakes his head, "He has no clue. At first, I didn't want them involved in any of this. But after their parents death, I had no choice."

Mr. King then explained what happened. A few years before my parents death, the same people also killed his daughter and her husband. Jaxon was only four and Colton was a year younger. Mr. King had no idea who killed his daughter and son-in-law until the day he The Dawsons were killed.

"I hate to kill the men who have followed me until now but they should know better."

"What is Colton going to do to Jaxon?" I asked.

We hid behind a wall, hearing footsteps. After they pass, we head upstairs.

"Since Elijah told Jaxon you were here, I assume Colton would use you. I was told Jaxon surrendered his gun and vest to Colton, who said he would kill you if Jaxon refused."

"He's going to kill Jaxon, isn't he?"

Mr. King doesn't say anything but I already know the answer. Of course Colton is going to kill Jaxon. Why would he keep the only thing in his way alive?

Once we get outside, he turns to me.

"You head left, I'll go right. If you find anything, send a flare with that gun."

I nod and we split up. I'm grateful he gave me a knife but a gun would have been better in this situation. I use the techniques that dean taught me, making sure I don't get caught.

I hear grunting from the other side of the corner.

"The main yard?" I whisper to myself.

I look around the corner and my eyes widen. Colton is nowhere in sight as three men beat Jaxon to a pulp. If I use the flare now, I'll lose the element of surprise. But if I rush in there and get caught, I might not be able to use the flare. I made up my mind and decided to use the flare.

I sneak over to the bushes and shoot the flare up. I quickly toss that to the side and sneak the other way as one of the men beating up Jaxon comes my way. I'm behind the other two and grab out my knife.

While no one is looking my way, I grab one of the two guys. I cover his mouth and slide the knife across his throat. It's a mess but that doesn't matter right now. I set him on the ground and head back into the bushes.

As of now, I see Jaxon looking at me. I hold a finger over my mouth and he slightly nods.

"What the hell is happening?" A voice yelled out.

It's Colton and he is fuming mad. I take this chance to move over to where Colton stands. I grip the knife and hop back inside and hide around the other corner, opposite to where I was standing when I arrived.

But before I could get to him, someone grabs me from the back. I struggle as he brings me in front of Colton. Colton just laughs, pats my cheek and plays with a strand of my hair

"Dean has taught you well but that doesn't matter."

"Get your greedy hands off of him," Jaxon spits out.

Colton laughs, "now why would I do that? You seem to care about this boy so much, how much would you be willing to risk?"

"What are you planning?" I ask.

"Simple. You become mine and I won't touch a single hair from his head."

"No way in hell," Jaxon says.

I look at Jaxon, he has multiple cuts and bruises everywhere. He can barely stand yet he's pushing himself to get up, only to be pushed back down. I give him a smile before looking towards Colton.

"You'll leave him alone if I become yours?"

He draws an 'x' over his heart, "Cross my heart."

"Luca, don't!"

"I accept." I say.

His smile becomes wicked before pulling out a gun and a knife. He cuts a hair off of Jaxon's head and shows it to me.

"This single strand of hair will be left untouched. But I can't say the same for the rest of him."

My eyes widen, tears forming, and I struggle against my captors' hold.

"You lied to me!!"

"Any last words for your little boy toy, Jaxon?" Colton asks.

One of the men beating up Jaxon earlier sets him on his knees. Jaxon looks at me and smiles the exact same smile from when he saved me from Coltol once before.

"We haven't been together for long but every moment meant so much to me."

"Jaxon, don't say it. Not now," I say

"Even though I couldn't protect you, I'm glad I got to see you one last time."

"No, I can't hear you!" I shout, "You can't leave me."

"Know that I love you, I always have," He turns to Colton, "please make sure he doesn't see this."

"Very well, it's the least I can do for you brother."

Colton snaps his fingers and the man holding me covers my eyes.

"NO! JAX!"

Bang!

My whole body goes numb once I hear the gunshot. He's gone and it's all my fault. If only I hadn't left with Elijah. If only I hadn't seen that cop getting killed. Jaxon would still be alive if I hadn't met him.

I should have said I loved him back.

I thought before blacking out.

In my cold, darkened thoughts, I replay everything that happened. I couldn't save him. I came out to save him, but I lost him instead. How could I be so weak? I lost the most important person in my life before I could tell him he was the most important person in my life.

"..ca...uca..Luca!" I hear someone calling out to me.

I open my eyes and see him.

"I must be hallucinating," I say.

He laughs, "I'd thought you'd be happy that I lived?"

I rub my eyes before tears pour out.
