I run all the way back to the car and see an unsightly sight. Three of the guys that jumped us were on the ground, dead. The other five are beaten badly and tied up. I look around and see Aiden, Oliver and Dean, all alive.
"Thank god," I say.
"You seriously think they could kill us?" Aiden asks.
Dean laughs, "We've been doing this awhile Luca."
"Even though we are injured, there is no way we would die," Olive smiles.
All of them laughed before everything became silent. They looked at me, who was crying my eyes out, and started panicking.
"I was so scared! This is all my fault," I say between sobs.
All three of them stand right in front of me, trying to calm me down.
I feel someone turn me around and hug me, trying to calm me down.
It was Jaxon. I could tell because of his scent, he smelled like citrus, jasmine and rose.
"This is not your fault. Don't go blaming yourself for what my family is doing. The vipers and I have been through worse, this is a normal thing for all of us."
He releases me and I look at him. He wipes away my tears and gives me the smile that makes my insides melt.
"I promised to take care of you and I plan to do just that," He reassures me.
I nod and take a deep breath, "Can we head home now?"
This caused everyone to freeze, including me.
My face goes a bright red and I stumble on my words, trying to explain what I just said.
"I just meant that it feels like home since I've been here for so long."
Jaxon laughs and nods, "I understand. You heard Luca, let's head home."

Once we arrive back at the apartment, I take a shower to wash off the blood. After I finish, I change into a red shirt, black shorts and sneakers. I head to the elevator and head down to the lobby. Elijah is waiting for me so we can practice driving.
"Hey Luca, Aiden told me what happened. Are you sure you want to go driving?" He asks.
I nod, "I will be fine Elijah. I just need to get my mind off of all of this, please."
He nods and we head out. As we drive, he asks me a question.
"How are things between you and Jaxon?"
I shrug, "Nothing really is happening. I like him and it's kind of obvious but I just can't say anything about it."
"I can see where you're coming from."
"You do?" I ask.
He nods, "I do. When I was your age, I liked this girl. She was my sister's best friend, who we both knew for years."
"Did you tell her how you felt?"
"I didn't have the courage to and because of that, I watched as she married someone else."
"Oh," I say, "I'm sorry about that."
He shakes his head, "Just a word of advice, Luca. Do something before it's too late."
After an hour of driving, we head back to the apartment. Elijah had asked me to tell Jaxon that he had an emergency to attend to. I nod and watch as Elijah drives away.
I head inside and head down to the basement to get ready for my tests and sparring.
*Meanwhile, in another place*
(Note: This is from a different point of view, not sure which one. When this part ends, it will go back to being Luca's point of view.)
A man walks into the house and heads to the boss' office. The man knocks and enters.
"You're back sooner than expected. How are things going?"
The man nods, "I have gained Luca's trust. He speaks about Jaxon with a term of endearment."
"So, he's taken an interest in my grandson? How about Jaxon?" The boss asks.
"When I see Jaxon look at Luca, I can tell he thinks Luca gives him meaning. Unlike all the other men Jaxon were with, I think Jaxon might actually have feelings for Luca."
The boss nods, "Keep an eye on both of them. I will contact you when I think the time is right to actually meet this Luca Matthews. Dismissed."
The man nods and leaves his boss to think about many things.
"Just how much is he willing to risk? What makes Luca so special to him?"
The boss makes a call, "Tell Colton to come in. We need to have a chat."
It takes five minutes before Colton is in his grandfather's office.
"You called grandfather? How may I help you?" Colton asks.
"I am very disappointed with you Colton. You may be the oldest but you are acting like a child! I know you're upset with my decision with Jaxon becoming the leader but that doesn't mean you don't have potentia! Leave your brother alone and let me handle this, that's an order."
Colton nods and leaves the office.
The grandfather gets out of his chair and heads to the window. He looks out and sighs. He grabs a picture off the wall and looks at it.
"If only you were here with me my dear Ivy, then things would be much easier."
*Back to Luca and the gang*
"Dean said you passed your tests, are you getting used to using weapons?" Jaxon asks.
I nod, "Somewhat. I still don't like solving things with violence. I hate how I killed someone too."
"That's totally understandable but it is for your own protection," He says.
I nod, "I know. So, what's today's lesson?"
"How to get out of a pin."
"How to get out of a what, now?" I ask, my face slightly turning red.
Jaxon smiles, "A pin. Like when someone pins you to the wall or the ground, we will be focusing more on the ground."
I nod and follow Jaxon's lead.
"First is when someone is on top of you with your wrists pinned. You want to thrust up your hips and move your arms down, like making a snow angel. Once the person's chest is above your face, be like a monkey and grab onto him and press your head against his chest as tightly as you can. Then move up so you can trap one of the arms and then roll to get them on their back. Then hit them wherever you can."
As he tells me what to do, he also demonstrates it on me. Then he has me do it a few times while explaining it again.
It did take me awhile to get things going since I was on top of him and then under him. God, why does he have to be so fucking hot. Like, who the hell doesn't wear a shirt with training? Does he want me to be even more distracted than I am?
