While he was changing, I took a pillow and a sheet and dumped them in my living room, so that I could sleep comfortably on the couch. I heard the sound of the bathroom door opening and waited for him to come out so that I could tease him about fitting in my clothes. You might be wondering how I was so utterly sure that my clothes would fit him. The thing is, before coming for college I stole a bunch of my brother's T-shirts.He had been very annoyed, to say the least, and had made it clear on the phone, but I had used my special powers and he had finally calmed down.

How?

I melodrama-ed him.

Here's how the conversation went:

Him: Lyn, why the fuck are so many of my T shirts missing?

Me:Your T-shirts?  Pfftt....            Ask one of your bestfriend or girlfriends or someone, I am the last person who'll know about them.

Him: You stole them with you, didn't you?

Me: I prefer the term "borrowed"

(pause while my brother sighs)

Me(faking sadness) : I just... needed comfortable clothes and your T- shirts and.......

I would wear them when I was feeling lonely in the strange, big city....

Him: You really like bringing that up don't you?

Me: I'll miss you

Him: You're really pulling out all stops. But,(pause)  I miss you too.

Me: Yup! And awww.. My baby brother misses me!

( I could easily imagine him rolling his eyes)

Him: Bye Lyn

End of conversation

Yeah, I do have a really sweet brother. I just had to bring up how we both had sat and talked the whole night before me leaving and he would start missing me.

Anywho, back to now, I sat on the couch and waited for Kayden to come out. I heard his footsteps come out. Then he cleared his throat. I kept my face turned toward the TV and asked sweetly, "Yes?". He spoke," Uh.. Your clothes fit me" I sounded a bit like he was unsure and I bit back a laugh.

I kept my face turned to prevent him from seeing my grin, but I'm sure he picked up on it when I spoke," Do they now?, Huh, That's a surprise." And then I turned around and raised my eyebrows at him, "Funny, I could've sworn you said that my clothes would never fit you." I gasped and covered my mouth with my hand, " Could it be... MAGIC?"

I know, I know, I being way too dramatic and sarcastic. But,hey, I was sleep deprived and plus, he would have to get used to it if he was staying here for even a few days. Sarcasm and drama were my hands and feet. That was how I functioned.

And from his expression it was obvious he realized this too. He rolled his eyes and said," Whatever"

Then AGAIN there was the awkward silence where neither of us had any idea what to say so we were just staying there wordlessly and waiting for the other to say something. When he showed no signs of saying something, and was observing the room, I decided to break the silence and said," You have college tomorrow? Because I do and if you do as well we really should go to sleep" I was making less and less sense now, because my sleep deprivation had reached it maximum limit. I wanted, no, needed, to sleep but I couldn't do so until he went inside so that I could sleep on the couch without any arguments. So, I continued, " You want something before sleeping?" He shook his head. I resumed," In that case Goodnight."I was technically chasing him into the bedroom(that came out wrong) but any longer and I would be slurring my words. He looked a bit ashamed but amused and I added kindly," We really need to sleep now"

He nodded his head and walked to the bedroom and put his hand on the doorknob, turned to me and gave me a small smile, said," Goodnight" and went into the room, closing the door behind them as I plonked onto the couch and drifted into a deep sleep.
