While I was still lying on the bed in Mom's office, I remembered I wanted to search for the things Dona had said earlier. I reached for my phone to type it in when suddenly, Gilbert Angeles walked in.

Startled, I sat up straight. "What are you doing here, Mr. Angeles?"

He froze for a moment, his eyes wide as if he'd just encountered a ghost. "Ah... No—nothing. I'm just looking for your Mom."

This time, I sensed something off. It looked like Gilbert was searching for something in Mom's office, his eyes darting around as if he were on a mission.

"Are you sure about that, Mr. Angeles?" I asked, furrowing my brows.

He nodded curtly but continued to linger, glancing at various items in the room. Finally, he made his way outside, and I followed him, feeling a surge of protectiveness. "Look, please, just leave my Mom alone."

He turned, a smirk creeping across his face that sent a chill down my spine. "Tell that to your Mom. Siya lang naman ang kumakapit sa akin. Ayoko nang magpaligoy-ligoy pa dahil tiyak kong hindi mo talaga ako gusto at tanggap."

"Buti alam mo..." I said, trying to keep my composure.

"Dahil may nagsabi sa akin..." he replied casually, a hint of mischief in his eyes.

"Who?" I asked, my heart racing in surprise.

"Wala na 'yon sa'yo. Ang mahalaga'y alam ko ang plano mo." His tone was almost taunting.

"Ikaw bang nagpapadala ng mga death threat sa akin?" I shot back, feeling a mix of anger and fear.

"Sa tingin mo?" he replied, his smirk growing wider, as if relishing the tension between us.

We held each other's gaze, the air thick with unspoken challenges, when suddenly Mom walked in. Her presence shifted the atmosphere, and I could feel the intensity of the moment dissipate, but the tension lingered in the room.

"Oh, you're both here! Let's just eat lunch," Mom said, her voice cheerful as she entered the room.

I glanced at her, concern creeping into my tone. "Mom, he's not really sincere to you."

Mom turned her gaze to Gilbert, her expression softening. "Gibs, can you give us a moment alone? I'll call you later."

He nodded, but not without shooting me a hard look that felt like a warning. As he stepped outside, the door clicked shut, leaving an uneasy silence between my mom and me.

I turned to her, my heart pounding. "Mom, I just don't trust him."

"Chad, ano bang gusto mo?" Mom asked, settling into a chair with a concerned expression.

"Ginagamit ka lang niya, Mom. Kanina, I saw him looking for something in your room. You shouldn't trust him," I urged, my voice rising with urgency as I recounted the encounter.

She sighed heavily, a mix of frustration and disappointment in her eyes. "You're just overreacting, Chad. How's your tutorial with Dona?"

"Don't change the topic. Ali mo ako aloko," I retorted, struggling to keep my emotions in check.

"Why would I do that?" She leaned forward, her tone serious. "Seryoso kami ni Gilbert sa relasyon namin. It's clear you don't accept that. The reason we didn't join you for the family date is because I know you. I know what's in your mind."

"Leave him now, Mom. He won't do you any good. He doesn't even love you," I said, my voice steady but laced with urgency.

"Who are you to say that? Anak lang kita!" she shot back, her eyes narrowing.
