Two Weeks later
After that the day in the coffee shop, the three of them fell into a pattern. Every day during lunch they would eat together and often hang out at the coffee shop after school whenever their various practices and clubs allowed. Reina was a member of the varsity basketball team. They mostly played against other supernatural schools as to not have an unfair advantage against human players. Dana was a member of the science club.
Two weeks after meeting Alex; Dana found herself staying late after school for a science club meeting. She knew that Reina was in the middle of basketball practice and that Alex was staying late helping her foster mom. Pulling out her phone, Dana prepared to text Alex to see if she wanted to hang out while Reina finished practice.
"Hello Dana," a cold and unwelcomed voice sounded from behind her.
"Chad," Dana squeaked. Unable to stop a cold stab of fear shooting through her heart and her mate bond with Reina.
"Dana! What's wrong?!" Reina demanded through the link. Dana didn't answer instead she stared at the person in front of her.
Chad was a human that used to attend their school. His father was member of the Royal Pack whereas his mother was human. Most times those types of pairing always produced werewolf children, but Chad missed out on that gene and was born as just a slightly stronger human. When Dana moved in with Reina, he couldn't be convinced that the two of them were together. And so frequently asked Dana out. He even took to stalking her. Finally, the Queens relocated his family to another town lest Reina ended up killing Chad. It had been nearly a year since Dana had seen her stalker and all the memories came flooding back at the sight of him.
"Hello, darling," he smiled coldly. If Dana was into men, she might've been compelled to say that he was handsome. Tall with sandy hair and light brown eyes. Yet, the cold darkness of his eyes marred his features. Chad took several steps closer blocking Dana into the wall of lockers behind her. She tried to push him away, but he pinned her arms above her head. Keeping her several inches above the floor. "Did you miss me?" He breathed into her ear.
Dana struggled vainly against his grip. Reina was on another side of the school. It would take her a couple of minutes even running at full sprint to get here. She had to keep him distracted.
"Chad. What are you doing here? You're not allowed on campus!"
Chad grinned coldly, "My team is playing football against yours. I thought I would scope out the competition and since I was in the neighborhood. I just couldn't resists seeing you again, beautiful." Dana shuddered causing him to snarl, "I am going to show you what a real man is like. No more of that dyke whore!" His features soften and he whispered. "I am going to fix you."
Dana whimpered when he brought his mouth closer to hers. Before any contact could be made however his weight was suddenly thrown off her. He slammed into the lockers on the other side of the hall. Dana fell to the ground clutching her wrists. She gasped softly when she saw Alex. Her back was turned to Dana, standing between her and Chad who was slowly beginning to stand.
"Who the fuck do you think you are?" he snarled.
"I am someone who won't let you hurt others," Alex growled but her voice was different. It was deeper than her normal voice. Each word ended with a growl. Honestly, if Dana heard the voice blind, she might've guessed that the speaker was Russian.
"Fuck off man," Chad snarled before a look of realization crossed his face. "Wait a sec. You're a chick!" He laughed coldly. "They're multiplying!"
Oh no think of the children! Dan thought sarcastically before hearing Chad threaten Alex.
"Yet another dyke needing to learn what a real man is like."
Alex scoffed, "have you seen any?" Chad stared blankly at her, so she elaborated. "...Cuz what I'm looking is a not a man. I'd barely classify you as a human."
"Bitch," Chad spat as his face twisted into a grim façade of rage. He charged at Alex, holding a fist up, ready to punch her. Dana winced already expecting to see the blow land on her mate's face. But to both her and Chad's shock, Alex grabbed the fist and twisted his whole arm behind his back. Holding him, Alex snarled in her strange voice.
"If I ever catch you so much as looking a woman cross-eyed again. I will break more than just your arm."
"You haven't..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Alex twisted his arm up higher. Dana could hear a series of snaps and cracks. Chad screamed a high-pitched pained note; Alex shoved him forward causing him to fall on the floor. He turned to her cradling his injured arm and looked ready to say something. Alex took a step forward and he turned and ran like a scared dog.
Dana couldn't stop a relieved gasp from escaping her mouth. The next thing she knew she was pressed against the lockers again but this time she was wrapped in the warmth of her mate. Dana wrapped her legs around Alex's waist and her arms around her neck. Alex buried her face in Dana's neck breathing in her scent. Needing to make sure that she was alright.
"Thank you," Dana whispered.
"Anything, for my little mate," Alex murmured pulling back slightly so Dana could see her eyes. They were a sharp electric blue. Her wolf was in control of her body. This was a defense mechanism that many werewolves had. Allowing their wolf to have control of their human half.
Dana smiled, "what's your name?" She asked the wolf.
"I am Xandara, little mate." Xandara sniffed Dana's neck again causing the smaller girl to giggle and release the last little bit of tension from her shoulders. They stayed in this pose for another minute before a shout echoed throughout the hall.
"Dana!" Both Dana and Xandara turned to look as Reina hurried toward them. She was covered in a fine sheen of sweat and her basketball uniform hung loosely around her. "Dana, are you two ok?!" She asked placing a hand on each of her mates' shoulders.
"We're fine, Rei," Dana tried to assure her mate. Reina was already shaking her head.
"Don't lie to me, Dana. I felt your fear. What happened?"
"A male from another school was harassing our little mate. I broke his arm." Xandara said bluntly. Reina seemed to notice for the first time that Alex's wolf was in control of her body.
"Oh hello!" she said surprised. Dana placed a hand on Xandara/Alex's cheek.
"Xandara," she breathed, "maybe you should let Alex have control again."
Xandara frowned, "little mate is still scared."
Dana smiled, "I'm not scared anymore. I have you two. Chad will never..."
"Wait. Chad?! That guy who stalked you for months when you first moved here! That's who harassed you?!" Reina yelled her eyes turning green. Dido began to take control of her body.
"He bothered you before?" Xandara growled. "I will find him. Break more than his arm. I will break all of his bones."
Dana swallowed nervously. She hated Chad deeply but she didn't want both of her mates charging after and killing him. So, she reached to deep inside and released all of her Omega aura. In large and concentrated qualities, her aura could lull even the strongest Alpha to sleep. Which is what exactly happened to her two mates that were still breathing large quantities of her scent. In an attempt to assure themselves of her safety. Xandara, even as she started to slump unconscious managed to keep the wherewithal to set Dana down on the ground before completely collapsing.
Sup, ya'll, well this has been a fun journey so far. Screw Chad amirite? I kinda can't believe its been twenty chapters so far. Thank you, guys, so much for the follows, comments, and votes. It means to the world to me.
I'd also like to offer a special thanks to my editor @pabis23. She's one of my best friends and a terrific editor. Trust me, there would be a lot more grammatical errors without her.
