Y/N POV-
We just came back from our first expedition. I realized how scary it was to go out there and fight. Knowing that you could be eaten, or smashed, or thrown at any time. I was traumatized. Seeing my friends get eaten. I couldn't take it. I was scared to death.
I sat there on my bed all curled up and whimpered. Tears soaked my face and my knees. Then I heard a knock.
I wiped my eyes and walked over to the door. "Who is it?", I asked, my voice was croaky and sad. "It's Hanji! Are you okay? Let me come in and check on you." I opened the door and she stood there frozen. "What's wrong?", she asked. She held my arm.
"Your eyes are so puffy Y/N. You look so miserable.", she didn't seem happy anymore. "What do you need? How can I help you." I kept thinking about people I lost and almost lost. Then I remembered. Levi. He was the only one that could truly protect me and help me. "Levi.", I said with my head down. "I need Levi." " I will go get him for you. I'll try at least. You know how he is with me. But I'm sure if he knows it's about you he'll listen." she giggled a little bit.
I know she was trying to set a good vibe but it wasn't helping. She left to go get him. And I sat on the edge of the bed for a few minutes, waiting for my boyfriend to show up. I was desperate for him. I needed him.
Then I heard footsteps and a serious voice called my name. "Y/N?", it was Levi. I walked over to the door and opened it. He was here. He gasped a little bit. "Y/N...", his voice was soft. He came into the room and closed the door behind him. Then he took my hand and walked me over to the bed. We both sat down on the edge. "What happened? Why are your eyes so puffy?" I got so many butterflies.
"I-I'm really scared. All I can think about is all the people that I lost today. I'm just really afraid to lose someone else I care about. What if I lose Hanji? Or the Commander? Or you?", I was crying and talking at the same time, which made it difficult to breathe. "I can't endure the pain like you can. How can you even process stuff like this?", I was trying to catch my breath it was only getting worse. "Calm down, Y/N. I'm right here. We're home and we are all safe.", Levi said. His voice was so soothing. "Just breathe my love. Breathe~" I tried to breathe but it was really shaky and all I could do was cry.
It took him a minute to realize I couldn't breathe properly. He put his arms around me and pulled me to his chest. "Do you hear that sweetheart? I want you to listen to my heartbeat."
I closed my eyes and listened. It was so calm. It helped me breathe. I tried going at the same pace as his heartbeat. I just wanted to be able to breathe like Levi was. A few minutes later he kissed me on my forehead rubbed my back. "Everything is going to be ok."
I started to doze off and eventually, I went off into a deep slumber.
