"I win." The won that Hae had grudgingly pulled from her pockets disappeared up China's sleeves as the country smirked. "Again."
"Dammit Pyo." The little province scowled accusatorily at her cousin. "Ya let me down!"
"She bit me!" South Pyongan glared at Nipponia, rubbing her forearm.
"We didn't agree on any rules." Nipponia smiled innocently, running her tongue over her long canines. "So I won that arm wrestle fair and square."
"So where's the rest?" China asked Hae. "The full two-thousand won isn't here."
"Korea?" Hae looked hopefully at her republic.
"No." He scowled.
"Hwang?"
The male Hwanghae- wise enough to not bet against China again- shook his head. "I already paid off my debts. I'm not getting involved in that again."
"SH? Kangwon? Pyo?" Hae looked desperately around at her cousins, who avoided her eyes.
"I'm not paying you for me losing." South Pyongan was still glaring at Nipponia, two indents on her arm from the Countryhuman's fangs.
Hae wisely did not ask North Hamgyong.
"Be careful." China smiled menacingly. "You might end up racking up a debt that you can't pay with money."
Y/N and Korea went to UIP's room in the infirmary for a meditation session, but quickly had to leave again.
"I- I apologise- filthy chopers- comrades." UIP smiled weakly, clutching his head. "I- think you should go-" He started screaming, and CCCP came in to sedate him.
Korea- looking slightly shaken- hustled Y/N from the room. Then she followed him of her own volition down to the lobby.
"Where are you going?" Y/N asked, as Korea shrugged on his coat. They had all gotten in the habit of leaving their winterwear behind the lobby desk, in case they needed to make a quick exit.
"Out to get Hae's phone card." Korea looked at her as he exchanged his house sandals for his winter boots. "Do you want to come?"
Y/N eagerly agreed. She hadn't yet been out in the after-blizzard, though from what she could see from the window, a few more inches of snow had fallen.
When they were out in the crisp air, she asked him, "So are those tunnels really safe?"
It was something that had been brought up after breakfast- apparently Korea's Northern army had dug tunnels under the DMZ, expanding on the underground bunkers they already had for safety's sake. They had been key in taking the south, but were now at risk of being invaded by the pockets of American soldiers that still persisted over the 38th Parallel.
"They'll be fine," Korea said, sounding like he was trying to be soothing. "I know where they all are, and they're heavily guarded." He smirked, fangs flashing. "And half of me trained with America's soldiers to plan an invasion through tunnels just like those. I know every move that they could make."
Nipponia had espoused much the same sentiment- 'I know all of America's tactics because he was training me to fight China and Russia.'
It seemed like the American country's inability to believe that his 'allies' would ever dream of betraying him had backfired.
"So they're not everywhere?" Y/N looked down at the tiles of Kim Il-sung Square, dusted by snow. Even now, were they walking over tunnels full of soldiers?
