Chapter Sixteen:
Under Control
▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁

Control was difficult, not in the general sense but more on how you should grasp the basics of it. Wether it came from a helping hand or pure isolation, it always varied from one person to the other. It was a lesson that only you could teach yourself, but there are always those special cases when you needed someone to be there. To pull you out of your obsessive behavior and to stop the music, to drag you out of in denialism and to finally help you face the physiological uncomfortable truth.

That you need help. That you need someone to be there for you.

However Stefan hasn't shown any sign of needing or wanting any help from either of the Salvatores, forcing them to walk on eggshells whenever they were near him with plastered-on expressions of casualness. Unintentionally speaking in hushed tones when he was mentioned, and trying to approach the situation without him shutting them away.

And so far Lucy and Damon were on both completely opposite spectrums when it came on what to do. See, whilst the youngest Salvatore wants Stefan to slowly ease into his resurfaced appetite, Damon wants his little brother to succumb to his desires and finally let go.

Which resulted in both Salvatores butting heads and arguing for hours on end, and frankly, Stefan had enough of their squabbling and made it perfectly clear that he had it under control.

Neither believed him though, but they kept their thoughts to themselves, Lucy did at least. But Damon outwardly seemed to relish in Stefan's struggle, oddly happy that he wasn't the one on the brink of snapping.

Yet Stefan, as he repeatedly stated, seemed to have it under control, and so Lucy left him alone after awhile. But once again, the same couldn't be said for Damon. However Stefan assured the Salvatore girl that he wouldn't let his brother's words get to him.

And so, that was how Lucy was able to have some free time of her own, finally able to escape from Mystic Falls' problems for a few days. And with a little encouragement from Damon to explore the town — mostly because he wanted her out of the boarding house — Lucy took her satchel and things and left to escape whatever dilemmas they had, even if it was for a little while.

Lucy had never seen Jenna Sommers as angry as right now, and her first interaction with the older woman was when she saw her cursing her ex on television.

And it was a pretty amusing sight, it also made the young girl smile, and that was a pretty hard thing to do back then. Which is essentially why Lucy became friends with Jenna, it was just something about her that made such a boring small town life — which isn't what Lucy would describe Mystic Falls to be, at all —  seem so exciting.
