Chapter Twenty
Someone's Moving In!
▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁Tick, tock, tick, tock. That's all Lucy could hear from reality, that's all she could sense to be exact. Every other sense in her body doesn't seem to be working yet, as if a small part of her brain somehow managed to wake up before the majority of her body. Causing a tingling sensation to spread through like pins and needles while her brain recapped everything that happened in the past twenty-four hours.
It was hectic, to say the least. First, she managed to reencounter the shadows and deducted that they were connected to her brother's yankee cap. And then proceeded to try and fight it and ended up surviving by somehow drawing it's power and taking it all away. But to be honest, that wasn't exactly a part of Lucy's plan at all. In fact, the shadows just sort of gravitated towards her, until it was all gone. With nothing left, or so the young girl thought, seeing as she recalled a small pair of shoes walking towards her.
Second, she was taken by a deputy to a basement filled with mostly all the vampires in Mystic Falls. Including Damon Salvatore himself, who was pretty shocked to find Lucy in there with him too.
And with a little hope — and absolutely no encouragement from the elder Salvatore — Lucy did the impossible and teleported both her and Damon out of the building in the nick of time. But then ended up passing out as soon as she did.
After that, Lucy was taken to the boarding house by Damon and left on one of the couches by the unlit fire place. Seeing as flames weren't exactly something the traumatized young girl wanted to see right after escaping a burning building.
Also, let's not forget, the newly discovered identity of the voice that helped her in the forest a long time ago: Zach Salvatore. A name she thought she wouldn't ever hear again without a pitying or somber tone.
Then finally, here Lucy Salvatore is, reduced to nothing but a young girl passed out on a couch with tear stains on her cheeks. It was a bit embarrassing to say the least, but the Salvatore girl couldn't and didn't really care. After what she's been through, this would be called a minor reaction.
Yet with a gasp, Lucy was awake. And definitely looked scared as her tired eyes frantically looked around, wondering if she was back at the horrible burning building, surrounded by charred bodies.
It took a few minutes for the Salvatore girl to realize that she was safe, but she still couldn't shake off this pit in her stomach. A feeling that was telling her to brace herself for the worst. And Lucy hated that feeling, all she wanted to do was go upstairs and go to sleep.
