Chapter Fifteen:
Let the Right One In
▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁▁

Lucy Salvatore would be considered a liar if she said that she was surprised by this outcome. The way her hands were covered in mud and how her hospital gown clung to her like a second skin. It was the exact situation that Lucy was used to ever since she came to this town, however it didn't make it better every time she teleported somewhere that she didn't want to go to. Or in this case, was simply told not to come.

But like the ever so humble knight in shining armor, Lucy's skills took Stefan's warnings as an invitation. And truthfully, so did Lucy herself.

So it wasn't much of a shock when the young girl stood up and raised her hands, she closed her eyes and muttered under her breath "Please work. Please work. Please work."

And an immediate smirk was plastered on her face once she saw her reflection in the familiar spear-point blade of her dagger. The drops of water may have distorted the image of her, but the young Salvatore didn't let it distract her any longer.

However what did distract her was the new detail on the weapons, it took awhile for Lucy to notice — with the mud smeared on her hands from sitting on the ground — but the young girl eventually saw a letter carved on each of the handles. Causing Lucy's smirk to slightly falter once she saw an H on one of the daggers while an L was chiseled into the other.

It doesn't take a genius like Lucy to figure out why the daggers now showcased those letters, but it does take one to figure out the why and who.

But the sounds of a car nearby made the young Salvatore realize that she didn't have the privilege to take her time and think. At first, Lucy thought that the car was a figment of her own imagination and paranoia. However once a tall figure came into view, it was clear that the young girl wasn't alone anymore.

Gripping the daggers tightly, Lucy hid behind a tree as she quietly observed. Her eyes trained on the person who was a few feet away.

The rain was making it harder for Lucy's vision and hearing, leaving her practically vulnerable if someone were to sneak up on her. But the young Salvatore wasn't worried about that, subconsciously knowing that her gut feeling would somehow assist her.

As soon as the stranger stepped into the house, Lucy knew it was her turn. And so the youngest Salvatore walked up to the porch, letting her feet stain the wooden floors as she entered the vampire infested home.

Luckily, Lucy's bare feet didn't create any noise as she took in her surroundings. She didn't know what she expected from a vampire filled house, but it certainly wasn't this.

The inside decor seemed to be as normal as your next door neighbor's home. There was no evidence of any vampire even living here, which was odd for Lucy to say the least. Considering that she lived with two.
