Codell's P.O.V.

After Amelie ran off, I looked for her for until well after dark. Me and her needed to sit down and talk, alone.

I still couldn't believe that she had even come back at all.

I had been under the impression that she hated me and never wanted to see me again. I shifted back into my human form and walked back to the house, trying to gather my thoughts.

As I approached the house, I smelt two vampires. They smelt a lot like Amelie though which made me curious so I quickened my pace.

"We are extremely sorry for this late interruption." the woman said softly to my mom.

"Well, whatever it is, it must be important." My father replied grumpily.

"Yes. We were wondering if we could speak to your son for a moment." The same woman asked.

"What for?"

I stood in the doorway and watched the situation unfold.

"We'll, we know that he and our daughter were together for a short while a few nights ago and she's gone missing."

"Are you accusing my son of kidnapping?" My father yelled getting angry.

"No, of course not. We just wanted to see if he had any idea where she might be. I can faintly smell her in you're home." The man said finally speaking up.

"I don't know where she is. We talked the other night and then she left to go home. She came by today and we talked for a minute or so and then she ran off again. I just spent the last seven or so hours looking for her." I said honestly.

"If you don't mind my asking, what were you and she talking about? She's engaged, if her fiancee were to find out she had been alone with another man, we'd have problems. Even if nothing happened."

I didn't want her too get in any trouble because of me. I shifted due to my uneasiness.

"I asked her to meet me in the graveyard so we could speak without our peers butting in. On her first day, we kind of had a run in and I lost my temper and attacked her, of course I wasn't going to hurt her, I was trying to show my superiority since she had been rude. Well, long story short, she knocked me out. The next day I asked her too meet me because..." I trailed off, not sure if I should tell.

"Because why, dear?" Amelie's mom said looking at me kindly.

"She's my mate." I said barely audible.

Her parents were silent for a minute until her mom started to get hysterical.

"Pierre, I told you moving here was a bad idea. I can't risk putting her through that again." she said getting teary-eyed.

"I'm sure everything will be fine. We will talk about it later." He said calmly, rubbing her shoulders to calm her down.

I felt uncomfortable standing here while her parents were obviously worried and weren't sure what to think of me.

"If I may, is it possible she went to her fiancee?" I ask choking on fiancee.

"We didn't think of that. It's possible. Thank you for your help. And once again, sorry for the late interruption." Pierre said before leading his wife out the door and down to a small car.

My parents gave me a this-isn't-going-to-end-well-for-you look before going to bed. I laid in bed and stared at my ceiling. I couldn't sleep. I was worried about Amelie, I didn't know if she was safe or not and it was killing me.

I was also confused. I had been told ever since I was little, that vampires couldn't feel. Yet her parents showed more love and affection for each other than my parents did. Even today, Amelie had almost cried. I didn't know what to believe at this point. Me and her both had responsibilities concerning our own families and who was I too cause more problems?

Her mate, you incompetent bozo. My wolf growled at me.

"I know. Trust me I know."I say out loud unnecessarily. This whole situation was just messed up. Not only had I been given a vampire mate, but also a mate who was engaged and had a bad history with werewolves so there no telling if she would even want me if she wasn't engaged.

We needed to talk that's all there was too it. I knew of one way, but since she's a vampire I don't know if it would work. I guess it doesn't hurt to try.

Amelie? I say trying to reach her through a mindlink. I waited for a few moments, and was about to give up when I heard a faint answer,

Codell? She asked in a soft whisper.

We need to talk. I say.

I know. But it's hard to not get caught.

What about through this?

That could work.

So, what are you doing? Vampire things?

Trying to solve a rubix cube. What about you? Doing wolf things? I chuckled softly.

Love is a lot like a rubix cube. Sometimes you find the solution, most times you don't. And through it all you get frustrated and excited. I say.

I never would've guessed that you were philosophical.

There's a lot you don't know, babe.
