Once I got to the place for the reception, I was taken to a back room where I met up with my mom who had my dress to change into.
It's a short white dress with lace and flowers.
I put on white flats instead of heels and then made my way out into the party. I was immediately swarmed by people asking why I wasn't with Vincent yet and why I had changed. I gave them simple answers and then retreated to my throne to avoid people. I saw Codell talking to his sister near the food table and his parents were seated at a table sulking.
Vincent was out and about talking to everyone and being sociable. Meanwhile I was trying not to show how much I wanted to cry. My brother saw me and walked over.
"What's with the long face? It's your wedding day, cheer up."
"Can we talk?" I ask quietly.
"About...?"
"Not here. Come one." I say grabbing his hand and leading him out of the room. I brought him to the library which was pretty far from the banquet room and made sure we were alone.
"What's this about Amelie?"
"You know I can see the future right?"
"Yeah you told me when we were kids."
"Well, I saw part of my future with Vincent."
"Is it bad? Or embarrassing?"
"It's bad."
"Bad as in Claude bad or just Julien getting locked up bad?"
"Worse than Claude."
He looked at me and then hugged me. Everyone in my immediate family knew what I had gone through with Claude and none of them wanted it to happen again.
"We have to call off the wedding then." He said looking at me.
"That won't go over well. You know why we had to marry anyway."
"Well then, I'll erase everyones memories of today."
"You can't just do that. Besides that takes too long."
"I've practiced. I just have to think about whose memories I want to erase and then they're gone."
"I have too marry someone. I can't stay single forever."
"Then marry someone you want too."
We talked about what the situation until a guard came in the room.
"Lady Amelie, Sir Remy, the king and queen have requested you two be escorted back to the banquet hall."
I nod and we were taken back to the party where Vincent tried to come up too me but was stopped by my guards. He tried to get my attention but I pretended to not hear him.
"Mother, father, you asked for us?" I ask sweetly.
"Yes, it is almost time for the dances to begin. Which one of your brothers will you be dancing with?" My mother asked.
"Remy." I replied. They didn't seem shocked by my answer. We were twins, we have been close since birth.
Remy and I went and sat in our throne, we had to share since they had only been expecting one child at the time and both of us were never here together all that much anyway.
"Lady, Sir Vincent would like to speak with you."
"Tell him we can't speak yet, that it is against our customs."
The guard looked momentarily confused but caught on quickly.
"Of course. I apologize, I had forgotten about that custom. I will tell him immediately."
Codell looked over and he could tell that I was up too something. I nodded at him discreetly, hoping he would understand.
I could hear my guard telling Vincent about the fake custom and could hear the disbelief in his voice.
"She is my wife. I will speak to her if I want too." He said while making a futile attempt to get to me.
"You're are such a trouble maker, little sis." I hear my sister, Maria, say behind me.
"I learned from the best." I reply.
"Where's Damien?"
"Oh, he's out trifling with the guests."
"I should've guessed as much."
The three of us spoke for a while until it was time for me too dance with Remy. We danced for a while before heading over to the food table and then to go speak with some guests.
I bumped into someone and they fell over.
"Hey watch where- oh, Lady Amelie I am so sorry. I wasn't paying attention." A younger woman said.
"It's quite alright dear. No damage was done. I believe I bumped into you anyway. Oh my, your dressed is ruined. Here let my handmaid take you to get changed." I say putting on my I'm-not-always-cold-hearted front.
Before she could refuse my offer, she was whisked away. I saw Codell's father looking at me trying to figure me out.
"Remy, why don't we go sit and speak with our new friends." I say dragging him too the table.
"Mr. and Mrs. Hunter, I wanted to personally thank you for coming to my wedding." I say so that the other guests wouldn't suspect any foul play.
"We're only here because Codell wanted to come." His father said.
"Well regardless, thank you." I say before turning to leave only to collide with Codell and end up with both of us on the floor.
"Sorry about that." He said while getting up and lending me his hand. As soon as our touch met, I could feel those sparks again. I was momentarily stunned.
"That's alright. It was partly my fault. " I say recovering myself.
"If you'll excuse me." I say hurrying away.
Today was just not my day.
